Location: Willows, CA | I have been getting emails and PM's asking if RG Senior is going to be more widely available soon. I just got word that on August 19th it will be available in all Tractor Supply Stores nation wide. They often do a discount introductory price when they do a large expansion like this. Senior is not designed as a original formula Renew Gold replacement. Nor is it formulated for your retired pasture ornament. It is higher in energy than original Renew Gold, and designed for very active senior horses and heavy use performance horses. I am always happy to see it easier to find. Win |

Location: Willows, CA | I am headed to Salinas tomorrow to meet Ivy Conrado and Riley Minor to stock them up since they are fairly close. I got Senior to Sherry Cervi in Reno since she was headed East and would not be at Salinas. These are exactly the kind of horses that Renew Gold Senior fits better than the original formula. On the road almost every day with the stress and hard use that goes along with that grind. For the majority of horses, even moderate use weekend warriors, the original formulation may be a better fit. Fat and protein are both higher in the Senior. Sugars are a little lower than the original Renew Gold, while starch, at 17%, is slightly higher. Overall, the Senior is a higher energy feed, but still a cool feed compared to grain based concentrates. Feed rates are about the same as original formula Renew Gold if your horse falls into the profile of use for Senior stated above. |

| My senior (30 yr old) gets about 1 lb of the original RG and I just started him on the Sr RG for some added calories. I just mix the two and he only gets so far a cup of the Sr. RG. Is this OK to do. My other gelding (23 yr old) gets the original RG and just a cup of that. Hope all this is good to go and they both get soaked alfalfa/bermuda cubes and then for something to munch on they get the Omega cubes from Danco. They are out on pasture 24/7 which pasture is not much this time of year and I do have hay out for them 24/7 but they don't really eat much of that. I occasionaly see the 23 yr old munching on it but the 30 yr old basically searches around in the hay bunk for loose stuff as he does not chew it so well anymore. I have been thinking about getting a wood chipper or leaf mulcher and putting my hay through that. Has anyone tried this for their senior horses that maybe cannot chew hay anymore? |

Yes, you can blend the two formulations with no issues. Very senior horses can really benefit from some Renew Gold in the program, even as little as one cup, as it aids in hind gut function and more complete digestion of the roughage portion of the diet. If you need more body condition, simply increase the RG some. |
