| I'm thinking of letting go of this mare. She is an own daughter of Brookstone Bay. I love her but hate her at the same time. From what I hear some have said they do not like Strawflyin Buds which is on her bottom side. She's never been a super friendly horse but was always ready to worke and did what you asked till recently. She is and has always been vetted. Found some minor issues and fixed them. So lameness isn't an issue. She did get epm an was treated and is being maintained. As time has gone on and she's gotten older her attitude can just seriously suck under saddle and can be unpredictable which is so disappointing because the mare has massive talent. For those that have had or have strong lines of Strawflyin buds in their horses pedigree what has been your experience? Any input would be appreciated. I'm to my breaking point! ?? |

| Gosh thats too bad your mare has a bad attitude. I have a Brookstone bay mare out of Winners Version and she is super sweet. You might as well price her high like so many others do with their horses.. These ridiculous sales prices have over taken common sense in my opinion. Your mare has a nice pedigree for sure. Good luck with your sale!

| It is sad... Everyone I've talked to that has owned a Brookstone Bay loves them.. except mine ?? I'm so defeated feeling and disheartened. Her bloodlines are very nice. If I sell her pricing her higher in this market would be nice but her issues I think drag down the price. She cannot just go into anyones hands for safety issues. I'd love to hear any feedback from anyone with the Strawflyin buds for feedback on their horses. |

Location: Dearing, GA | Is it an option for you to breed her? Some mares have an attitude adjustment after raising a baby. Just a suggestion if you want to try it! |

| It has been on the table for discussion in hopes that would happen but I don't even know who I'd pick as a stallion. It would have to have a very kind personality to hopefully offset her. I'd be open to suggestions. I think the only think I'd change about her style would be a little more cattiness and the stud would need good solid feet. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | Since this mare has a nasty attitude there would be NO WAY I would breed her, you could end up with another one like her. I gave one away that had a bad attitude, didnt want her around, she got nasty as she got older. She went back to Leo Jewels on top and bottom and Pie In The Sky on top.

| I know of a Brookstone Bay mare that's out of a Strawfly Special daughter, and she sounds pretty similar- all business, but not a mean bone in her body. She was bred and has become the best mother. I definitely think you would get more value out of your mare if she's in foal or has had a foal before, especially if she's getting older. It's harder to get older, maiden mares in foal, so why not take the chance and see what her personality is like after having a foal? And if she's still not nice, then you know not to breed her again- but I bet it might change her outlook on life a bit. As far as stallions go, I would think about a cowbred cross for her. Personally I think Fiestas Gotta Gun would be really cool. We looked at purchasing the mare I mentioned above, and that's who I would have crossed her on- FGG or Hired Gun. I really like what the Playgun sons being to the table with running bred mares. It has worked phenomenally for us. |

| Madredpeanut, what would you say Feistas gotta guns personality is like? What does he add to his offspring? |

| From what I've seen and been told by his current owners, FGG himself (Curly) is a sweetheart. His offspring are super versatile and are being competed on in the roping and barrel events. We bred him to a TB mare twice and both foals have been very correct conformationally, with more of a running bred build. The 3yo filly is wicked athletic, and really has a nice stop on her. The coming yearling colt was very very easy to halter break and handle (we sold him as a weanling). The colt was an ET, but still had the same personality as his sister. We bred our TB mare to him because I love the run/cow cross, especially the Playgun breeding, and I have always loved Firewater Fiesta, so FGG was an obvious choice, and we liked our filly so much we bred the mare back and got our colt. His offspring overall seem to be very user friendly, feely without getting offended, and have a ton of try. I think he would complement almost any mare- we are breeding a Shining Spark/Paddys Irish Whiskey/Two Eyed Jack mare to him this spring, so I'm excited to see that foal. Sorry for the delay, I hadn't been on BHW in a few days. ETA: Curly doesn't have any earnings or show record due to an injury he sustained while in training I believe, I'm not sure the specific details. That fact didn't stop us from breeding to him.
