| My gelding has always been known as the perfect child. The past few weeks he's turned into a completely differnent horse. He used to be able to ride in the warm up pen nice and calmy yet now he's more focused on other horses. He ends up bucking and kicking at others even if they're barely close to us. He now rushes himself while loping circles and just acts like a fool. Last week he went to a well known lamness vet and i was told his TMJ and right hock were very sore. X rayed everything and went ahead and had injections done. Both of his hocks were injected and we x rayed his back for kissing spine as his lower back was a little tender. The vet highly thinks he's acting moody and angry due to hurting. He said he's had alot of geldings who act like weenies if they're hurting the slightest. Which in the past my other geldings acted like their life was ending yet my mares would run 3 legged if they had to LOL. I am riding him tomorrow which will be my first time since his actions at our last race with the warm pen issues. I spoke with an animal communicator which recommended testing for EPM, kissingspine, and ulcers. He cleared all 3 of these. She did recommend having an equiscope done on him for maintenance which i am having an appointment next week. She did claim he told her he bucks/kicks at other horses while riding now because he wants to take his frustration out on someone besides his ridder. I guess where i am getting at with this post is, has anyone experienced a calm gelding turn into a mean ass dragon while riding due to sore hocks or just being sore in general? I am seriously praying i will have my sweet relaxed gelding after his injections and time off. Looking into placing him on adequan as soon as possible as well. |

If you can find one in your area, have acuscope/myopulse done. Acuscope made a huge difference in my mare. She is one of those horses that always is head up/hollow back and carries a huge amount of tension in her neck. She is so much more relaxed now. Acuscope is the only therapy I have used that actually stays with them for a while. |

Yes. Horses, like humans, get cranky when they are in chronic pain. |

Location: Broxton, Ga | I have one for you.......I had a mare that started setting back when saddled.......due to hauling had got behind on her injections......had her injected ...setting back stopped. So I would say if yes anything is possible when it comes to horses....trying to tell you they are in pain. |

Location: Oklahoma | My EPM gelding gets like this when he has a hot summer or injection flair up. I'd sure have him looked at, he's trying to tell you something. |
