So, FORCO is like yogurt and RG kicks the hind gut into gear? I'm so confused.
How do they work? Are they the same idea or do they do two different tihngs?

They're very different, but it kinda looks like they might do the same thing.

Would it be counter productive to do both?

Would it be counter productive to do both?

this is one of my wonders. there are a quite a few people feeding both....i dont understand why so I thought maybe I was wrong about how they work.

To my understanding, the big difference is FORCO is supposed to be an additive to your current feeding program and RG is supposed to replace your current feeding program.

ETA: This is just from what I've been reading/researching, I don't feed either of them.

I can shed a little light here. FORCO is a yeast culture / enzyme supplement designed, as I understand it, to support the hind gut microbial population for better digestion of the forage you feed. Renew Gold also has a yeast culture inclusion for the same reason. Both can be beneficial and compatible if you choose to use both. I have not fed FORCO but have heard positive feedback from people who have. Renew Gold functions in several additional ways. (1) It is energy dense and can directly replace higher starch feeds with a 9% starch formulation that provides more energy per volume than grain based feeds. (2) In addition, the Coconut meal component has significant anti-bacterial effect high in the system that effects bacterial generated inflammation high in the system. This can help nutrient uptake in that part of the system. When properly used, the coconut component is digested before it reaches the hind gut. (3) By supporting hind gut function and lowering total NSC, you encourage more complete digestion of the roughage source, which allows you to further reduce high starch feeds and still get the total calories you need. These calories were in the horse, in the hay, and just ended up on the ground behind the horse unused. In this, the two products have a similar benefit. To put is simply, FORCO is a well crafted product for hind gut support. Renew Gold works literally from the horses mouth back through the entire system to normalize efficiency and use of everything you feed. They can be fed together if you choose, but we have done no trials to see if a better overall result can be obtained by doing so.

now it makes sense. One does more than the other. One can be fed alone while the other needs to be supplemented. Thank you!
