| I'm pretty sure I wouldn't last anywhere it was -35 degrees, no matter what I was wearing. So spoiled in the sunny south, mid thirties is about as cold as it gets. |

Location: Is it Summer Yet? | I wear, sorrell snow boots (love these boots), actually don't wear any socks in them. then yoga pants, then insulated overalls (the kind the oil patch guys wear, they're blue), then a hoodie and a down jacket. silk scarf, and toque. For gloves I either wear mittens or sun ice skiing gloves. Yes I do have issues getting on. lol |

I ride in my Sorel's also - but with several pairs of socks! I guess I should just bust out the coveralls, though I find its my fingers and toes that suffer when it's cold! |

It even comes with a remote control to adj the temp. Kinda pricey, but probably cheaper than frostbite. Do you know anyone that has them? What is pricey? As long as my feet, hands and head is warm- I can do lots of things.....except ride- but I can hardly do that in ideal condidtions!
You can find them on Amazon, or the websites of the big sporting goods stores. Pricing around $130 a pair.
Mike know some hunters that really like them. |

I didn't die...and I've been in San Diego! I only walked my horses though because the ground is frozen. I would have opted for a face ski mask if I were to go faster. |

 Best of the Badlands
Location: You never know where I will show up...... | All I need to stay comfortable in this extreme cold is a pair of Carhart arctic lined bibs and coat, a heavyweight hoodie with the hood pulled up over my cap (if it's really REALLY bad I will put a headband ear warmer over my cap), silk scarf, insulated leather gloves, and insulated Muck boots. My feet never get cold and I don't put on extra socks.
Today the windchill was hovering around -20 all day and I was out in it most of the day with no problem. I do have my tack room heated to about 50 degrees so I can warm up a little bit in there if I need to, in between horses. But today I didn't have to. It was 25 above in my indoor, so I was able to take my coat off to ride. |

Location: Oregon | Someone ask about the Toe warmers. This year Costco had the Little Hotties and they're lasting 8 hours or longer.
Also to whoever said they use hand warmers for their feet. The Toe Warmers are adhesive and stick to your socks on top of your feet and are so much thinner and more comfy than using the hand ones. |

Location: Wyoming | Yesterday it was -18 with a breeze. I wear Under Armour top and bottom. Smart Wool socks, insulated Muck boots, Long sleeved shirt, Heavy Sweatshirt, flannel lined jeans, Back On Track gloves inside my Wells Lamont insulated gloves, Arctic Carhart coat, and either my insulated mad bomber hat or my wool hat with ear flaps. If it's warm enough I will wear a ball cap with an ear band. Thank goodness I have a barn to ride in that warms up nice in the afternoon.

I use the same thing. I think mine have the thinsulate but they sure aren't expensive. As long as your working or doing something I don't have a problem. Except my face. OMLord my face gets cold. |

Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | Never underestimate the power of the pricey stuff like Underarmour. I wear it year round. I never get frozen.
Honestly though the best thing I found for my legs was a pair of tights (the ones used for dancing etc) and just a pair of jeans with maybe ski pants for the really cold days.
I hate the waffle long johns. I think they are useless. Silk always worked better. I think too many layers where your body can't even move enough to generate it's own heat is a bad thing. Check out anything made for snow boarding and skiing, and any cold weather Harley Davidson geart. I know my snowboarding jacket without any layers underneath gets me too warm if it's above 20 degrees. |
