Location: Texas | Heading to Vegas tomorrow. We are staying at the MGM. Our daytime routine is always hitting the NRS World at MGM, Stetson Country Christmas at Sands, Roper Cowboy Marketplace at Mandalay Bay and Wrangler Cowboy Christmas at Convention Center. That usually takes the full two days. We are only there for three days so LOTS of shopping to squeeze in a very short time. Have never been over to the Southpoint though. Just wondering if I am missing anything by not hitting the shopping at the Southpoint.
Also, has anyone gone over to the Southpoint for a buckle presentation after the NFR? Is it REALLY crowded i.e. so crowded that it doesn't pay to try to get in there that late? Or is it better to go over one night that we are not going to the NFR. Maybe go over there early and watch the NFR at the Southpoint and then get a good spot for the buckle presentation.
Thanks |

Location: Where I am happiest | The buckle presentation at The Southpoint is alot of fun. However, it is extremily crowded. If you want to get in, you have to go early to get a table. It is in the bar. |

Location: who knows? | I watch the rodeo at the South Point Showroom for the first 4 nights...if you want a table you need to start lining up at 4ish....they will fill the dance floor for standing room for buckle ceremony. |

WOW... start standing in line at 4ish for a table to watch the buckle presentations at almost midnight? YIKES!
So if you watch at the Southpoint Showroom can you get standing room in the bar for the buckle presentations? |

Location: Where I am happiest | There really isnt the shopping at South Point unless they have changed that this year. Last year they did have a western art show though. |

Location: Sherman, TX | There is little to no shopping at the Southpoint when I went last year. We did go to the buckle presentations and they did fit everyone in line in. We did not line up until the last minute and still got in. We did have to stand though each time we went though. Still worth going though, lots of celebrities mingle with the crowd after and you can usually get your pic taken with them. On another note I thought their slot machines paid the best too, probably because they are off the strip.. |

Location: Prosser, WA | We used to watch the buckle presentation in the sports book area but the sound us not working thus year. So the last few nights we've been going in at the last minute and standing to watch it. There has been plenty of standing room. |

No, we stood in line to watch the rodeo, then stayed for the buckle ceremony. But there is plenty of room if you just want to walk in for the buck ceremony. They have started having everyone fill up the dance floor.
The shoping upstairs is getting better every year. |

Location: Texas | So sounds like there is shopping at the Southpoint, but it is upstairs and not too many know about it?
Southpoint schedule of events says "South Point Western Gift Show at the arena".

Location: In the Hills of Texas | Just got back and there is shopping at the South Point up by the arena. I actually bought more things there then anywhere else. I guess it depends on what you are looking for.
I don't like to watch the rodeo in the bar. You can go upstairs and be comfortable and not be crammed in like sardines. They had a couple of rooms open with the huge screens. The Grand Ballroom is the biggest. They actually have a tailgate party before the rodeo up there. |

All the ropers know about it and it was pretty busy the days we were there. There are also quite a few tack places, supplements, feed and in the corner up by the arena, NRS has a small section geared towards the team ropers. |

Location: Oregon | I just got home on Sunday! I stayed at the southpoint, and all of the things that I bought this year were at the southpoint shopping. I did shop the Sands and Convention center too. I went to the buckle ceremony every night,so glad I did, it was getting busier each night and if you wanted to sit you better plan on watching the rodeo there. That said I was a great time and it has had me wishing that I was there after the rodeo each night I have spent waqtching it at home. Round 1 I got in there at 11 and stood right in front of the stage, same thing with round 2 round 3, it was packd and I stood by the bar but it was still a great time! Have fun!

Location: In the Hills of Texas | Three Forks Saddlery is up there and it is nice to be able to see their saddles in person as there aren't a lot of them used where I live as they are more a Northwest deal. |
