I am looking for ideas for projects for our kids to do in these winter months that they can take to achievement days! We have kids from 8 years old to 18 years old! If you ladies have any ideas they would like to share - I would greaty appreciate it! Thanks!

Im not a 4-H mom yet, but I was a 4-Her for many years! A couple memorable projects we did were learning to make rope halters, roping reins, braided horsehair bracelets (from our own horse's tail- cool keepsake), horseshoe  picture frames... The possibilities are endless :)

Things we did in 4h were

Wooden saddle stands, adults already had per cut, we just had to drill the screws in

Leather braided reins, we did 4 strand round braid

Parachute cord 7 braid flat belts

Wool saddle pad used rug hook and burlap sack and sheep wool

Rope halters made from scratch

Also did gingerbread houses and gave them to long term care centres

Those are all I can think of, might be able to find some of the patterns

I forgot about another awesome one we did... got horse legs from the kill plant and had a well known farrier come and teach us all about the hoof/legs, and then how to trim a horse's feet, or pull a shoe in case we were ever in a bind. May not be ideal for kids who aren't super redneck, but we lived in the middle of nowhere so all of us ranchy kids were good with it

I remember decorating horse shoes for Christmas and putting a pic of our horse in the middle of it.

Lots of good ideas on Pinterest!   We don't have a club that's strictly horse kids but we do have a Horse Project Development Committee.  I am the Superintendant of our County's 4-H horse project and I am trying to get our kids to do a "Horse Related" project.  They can also earn a trip to the State 4-H horse show with that project and last year, my daughter was the only one in our county who participated.
