I ordered a camera strap from HB and had a quote branded on the inside for my MIL. I got it about 3 weeks ago and it was flimsy, crooked and has a spelling error!! I asked them to make me a new one and they apologized, blamed it on the "other girl" that works for them and said they did not trust her to make a new one and would oversee it themselves. They didn't get back to us again until today saying they wouldn't be able to make us a new one and we should just buy my MIL a gift somewhere else.

Now, I have no clue what to get her. Here I was expecting this $300 camera strap to be beautiful and I got something that looks like it came out of the bargain bin at the dollar store. I have no idea... What did you all get your MIL's???

Did they reimburse you? Do you still have the strap or return it?  I'm dense and have no clue who HB is.

They said they would reimburse us but have not yet seen any money. I'm sure they will but I am hugely dissapointed in them. They have never failed me until now. The email we received was basically "we dont want your business bad enough to fix our mistake".

Β Scentsy!

Yeah, that's an awesome Idea

Instead of a well thought out, quality piece of customized leather work.

Give her some stinky wax. Nothing says I love you like flavored ear wax.

That is too bad. I know you want something to physically give her for Christmas but have you considered checking with another leather worker and having them do something? It probably couldn't be done in time but there are some extremely gifted leatherworkers out there besides HB that would be more than happy to have your business.

You need to file a claim with your credit card. Don't let someone steal $300 from you.

I'm sure another leather worker could do another strap but the fact remains HB took her money and gave her a crap piece of leather.  Fight it!!  OP Can you please post a picture of the job they did?  I don't like a thread going on about a company without seeing what your up against.

I can understand your frustration, we all know mistakes can happen and do. The crappy part is it is very close to Christmas and with the NFR just finishing I can understand how they ran out of time. I bet any other time they would have had no problem fixing it, as they have done warranty work on my pieces without any problems.

As for MIL presents what does she like, maybe artwork. Do you have any sedimental pictures you can blow up and frame?

Weekend or day spa package

If none of these are acceptable, perhaps you can tell us more about her

I am a mother in law and if I could pick a present from my kids it would be some really nice pictures of the 2 of you in frames that say on them family or other such nice collage frames they make. Another nice present I would enjoy (not sure if u have time to have this made) is a custom calendar with pics from your farm daily activitys for every month. And if all else fails buy me a gift certificate to have my truck detailed I so love it when my truck looks brand spanking new! No I would not like scenstys I have walked into too many houses and it smells to me like a bad case of scensty gone wild lol

I will try to post a picture off my phone. If not I may need to email to someone to post it for me.

They told me originally that they would make me a new one and have it to me in January which was fine. But the email I received today was surprising. They basically went back on what they said. I understand they are busy but it was not professional to suggest I shop elsewhere.
