I guess I'm just in awe of the whole situation, I'm past the irritated part...it's more funny now. I wish I knew who the stallion was so I could at least put a pedigree up for the baby LOL. Welp looks like I'm going to be a grandma.....hope my blue roan mare isn't bred either! (they came from the same lady)
*******************************************************************
Read your last sentence .... Call AQHA and see if the blue roan mare is on a stallion report .... if so ... you might have found the traveling salesman that is the daddy to your buckskin mare ...

Pull mare produce on both mares and see who the last stallions were that sired their foals .. there's a chance they re-bred to the same stallion ... talk to last stallion owner..

Common sense sez this is what happened due to the timeframe the baby was born >>>
Since these mares seem to have changed owners frequently ....... and buckskin baby was born around Thanksgiving... (wrong time of year for breeding season) ... she may have been at a December office party at a sale barn and got frisky with one of the guys that was just passing thru there that bought her a drink or two ... ... lol...

That ain't no chit! They cashed my check Nov 15 for new foal registration and a parentage verification hair test kit. I have yet to receive the kit...supposedly it was mailed last Friday.

you have to wait 4 weeks.....after 6 i finally requested another.....then....2weeks ago i got the papers....then yesterday i got two letters.....one was to tell me that they had  not yet recieved DNA for sampling and verification adn that if they did not recieve it in 60 days, my foal may not be eligible for registration.....the second letter i opened.....and in that order....was a letter encouraging me to reconsider nominating my foal, name and registration number at the top of the page, for the incentive fund.....both letters were dated on the same date.....just because it irritated me, i called today and gave the reg number and then said what the dna letter read and the lady says, 'we have have that already, you didn't need to call.'....that was the end of that conversation......

they sure waste a lot of money on letters...

Are they trying to make it so ponderous to mail registrations in that you'll do them on line?? I did do one online (no parentage verification needed on that one) and I had papers in my hand in 10 days.

Here are some pictures I took from this evening while feeding, called the trainer and he said my blue roan mare didn't look or feel pregnant.

I called my vet but he doesn't have the equipment. I'm giving my previous vet a call tomorrow morning to see if I can get something quickly.

All he needs is his hand. I had mine checked and the vet palpated her. Unfortunately, she is not bred. He should be able to feel a foal in there.

hoofs_in_motion - 2013-12-19 10:00 PM  well turns out my Buckskin broodmare is bred......And she was sold to me as open. So, question is....since I have no idea who the stud is and the mare has her DNA done....can they run DNA from the colt to match a stud? Stupid question I know but just kinda looking for ideas on what to do.....I kinda figured I'm SOL
Doubt you would be lucky enough that there might be a breeding report on file with AQHA? Would be at least worth a call

I already gave them a call like 10 after 8a.m. LOL. She pulled her name and it isn't listed on any stallion report....so I'm SOL pretty much lol.

O well, chalk it up to another lesson learned. Hope I can find a home for the baby, cause I don't need another weanling LOL

Well.......I am very interested to find out what you end up with! My guess would be she is bred to something less than desirable due to the immediate block... Has she had prior foals? I would worry that maybe one of her sons bred her, again due to the immediate block. Did you ask AQHA if they could force the issue with the previous owner to say who she is bred to?

Sounds to like the person told the stallion owner that the horse was not bred and did not pay a stud fee. If the horse is bred and the stallion owner is contacted he will not issue a breeder's certificate without a stud fee. This would be the only reason I can think of for a person to act this way. Trying to hide something.

As far as special equipment to preg test at that stage, the only equipment a vet needs is his arm. Pretty common with the vets around here.

Yeah, or it could be bred to the neighbor's jack, shetland pony, mustang or whatever and they don't want to be asked to take the mare back or otherwise "make it right".
