Location: So. Cali. | This isnt a new thing. Just finally getting around to uploading a video of it. This is not brought on by exercise, she could just be standing in her stall when it happens. It actually has been a while since I've seen this since I've changed her diet. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced something like this?

I'm wondering if this is exertional rhabdomyolysis, I've only personally seen one case of this but the horse exhibited the same symptoms or twitches that your horse is doing. Along with a few other ones. |

Location: Buffalo, Wyoming | I have multiple horses do this and from what I was told it is a way of tieing up.... Mine were brought on my exercise though, so your could very well be something else. |

I tested her for PSSM type 1 via hair sample and she tested negative. However assuming theres still a chance she could have PSSM type 2, I changed her diet to feed her as if she did. It took time but I have noticed a change. She does not get anything rich, and I added DMG and Oil to her daily diet. She was already on Vitamin E/Selenium supplement and is still on it. She had one case last winter of an actual tying up episode that was brought on after exercise.
I had several different vets look at her, none were actually present for the twitch itself. It only happens in that same spot on both sides, and every year this time (Dec/Jan) she looses her hair on that area.
She has been given the winter off and I am taking her to the vet this week for maintenance than will be legging her back up for this season. I am hoping this season we are back on track and can get back to where we were.
BTW: This video is from July 2012, I had just pulled her from her stall and was saddling her at the trailer when it happened.
