I am interested in buying a belt style headstall for my horse. I am just curious as to how well they hold up? Are they Durable and where is the best place to order one? I d use a tie down on my horse so do they work well with tie downs? Thanks in advance!

I've never used one, but I've noticed they are lighter weight now than when they first became popular. Teskey's has a bunch in their store, but I'm not sure what is available online. I bought myself one for Christmas, but haven't used it yet. It has to fit perfectly. If you take them up to shorten them for a small headed horse, it puts the earpiece out of place. Most only adjust from one side.

As someone who works in the leather tack business, my suggestion is to make sure you buy from someone reputable and someone who makes them properly. I see a LOT of tack makers out there taking the belts you buy to wear and just putting some leather "tabs" on the ends to hold your bit. Those are BEYOND dangerous!! Those belts are so thin and most aren't made of real leather, they are "pleather" or synthetic.
For a belt headstall to be safe they should be fully lined with leather inside, sewn, and the leather bit tabs should be a part of the headstall itself, not just an add on.
PM me if you have any questions :
