Location: East Tennessee but who knows?! | We live in a very small town where not a lot happens really. We're a good 50 miles from Knoxville which is the biggest town nearby.
On New Years, a friend of mine that's in her 50's was putting her groceries in her car in the parking lot of the grocery store during the middle of the day. As she's putting her groceries in her back seat, this guy of eastern origin, maybe India, was in a van and he stopped behind her car and just stayed there while she put her groceries up.
Keep in mind, there's not very many folks of this ethnicity in this area. So naturally you're going to notice someone like him.
She got in her car and he pulled up beside her and lowered his window. She was locked in her car and didn't want to be rude so she lowered her window to see what he had to say.
He kept going on about how she looked like someone he went to church with and how she wore the same sexy clothes and asked her to go with him. He was NOT smiling at all when he was saying this. He was very serious the whole time, which didn't match what he was saying to her.
This is just out of character for our area. I wonder if he wasn't an abduction attempt. There's been so much sex slavery abductions.
Just keep this in mind and be aware. We get so used to being comfortable in small towns but it can happen anywhere, and it can happen where you wouldn't expect it. |

Location: Wyoming | This happened to my daughters friend a couple of years ago super scarey.
Her daughter is in sports they were at the ball field and she was in the bleachers and a woman sat next to her. This woman started a conversation and bone thing led to another next thing you know she offers xxxxx a job. This stff goes on and she's suppose to start this job well couldn't this week do to the other party having to attend a funeral and she's the one that's going to be doing the training.
Then... She gets a call from this woman says she's so sorry this is about 10:00pm apologizes asks her if she could meet her that she had a check for her since it wasn't her fault she couldn't work being a single mother she did need the job and money so she agreed her daughter is 13 and son 11 she lives on her parents property in a trailer.
While she is gone to meet this woman, a truck pulls into her yard her dad happens to be up getting something to drink he notices 3 men trying to break into the house he calls cops but in meantime gets his gun and goes out to confront they were part of some sex slave ring and were intending on kidnapping the girl. Pretty scarlet stuff thank god their plan was not executed as they had hoped. |

whenever I'm making a stop, I make sure I take my cellphone. On my way back to my car I do as my mom taught me. Always check the backseat if the car before I get in, and I thread the keys between my fingers as I approach the car to use as a weapon as need be. When I was young I thought she was overreacting....but now I appreciate her nagging and always remember. |

Location: Texas | Very scary! A friend of mine from high school had her daughter abducted and taken to Mexico. It took 70 days to get her back as the law doesn't work for us there. Smuggling people happens all the time and I think of it each time I see a missing person posted on FB. Thank you for the reminder to watch our surroundings even in the small towns we live in! |

Police couldn't do anything but put it on file anyway. The guy didn't do anything that he could be arrested for. In a small town, the local cop might try to keep an eye out for him. In a bigger town, it would get little attention. |
