I am attempting to switch my horses from a sweet feed to Renew Gold. Tonight was the first night I fed the RG and they looked at me like I was insane and wont eat it. Do you guys think it's because I created spoiled little sugar addicts with the sweet feed? How long would you continue to try and switch them? Do they ever get over the sugar addiction?

Did you put a little RG in the sweet feed?  Switch them over gradually until you have more RG than sweet feed and eventually you'll have them switched completely over to RG.  I wanted to try RG so bad but neither Manna Pro dealer in town can get it for me so I went to Nutrena Safechoice Sr.  Not what I wanted for my old guy but hopefully will work for him.  Good luck!

Ditto what the other person said. I tried finding a tractor supply that carried it and there are NONE in Mississippi or the surrounding states. I tried!

But do gradually change them over.

Yep, change over gradually (I think it smells a lot different than what they are used to). One of mine wouldn't touch it initially but chows it up now.

We were feeding 6 lbs of wet COB.....went to like 2 lbs COB, 1 lb RG.  Gradually decreasing from there.

GRADUALLY switch - I am in the process of switching from sweet feed to a whole feed and it will probably take me a month before the switch is final.

Thank you everyone I did add sweet feed to it and they still picked. For those of you who cannot find it have you called manna pro? It turned out the feed dealer that carries it by me was not listed on the website, if you call them they will try and find it for you. The lady at tractor supply that tried to get it for me tried hard and was told that they would not ship it up here.

My Tractor Supply store said it was only being tried out in certain markets to see how it would sell and South Dakota wasn't one of them so I was S.O.L.  I didn't call Manna Pro though.  I will try that route.

Just another note but it should take you at least 2 weeks to switch gradually to the next feed.

You say you added sweet feed to it but what you should have done was add a little to the sweet feed. then in a few days add just a little more and continue adding until all your old grain is gone. I just switched from Triple Crown Low Starch to Purina Healthy Edge and it took me a couple of weeks.

Thank you everyone they did end up eating it throughout the night and they did much better this morning. I guess they just had to realize that, this is what they are getting.
