I guess it's just my time to in the rut. I had posted not to long ago about work and now today. I was putting orders in for a new patient and nurse come to me with a question. Ok, so I help her try to figure out what had been done and she then marks something out on the order that we were looking at from a couple of months age (not sure if she was the one who wrote it or not either). I proceed to tell her we need paper orders to match whats in the computer but don't know if she can just mark out something on the old order that she may need to write a new one. She then starts yelling and saying well I came to you to tell me what to do and you tell me this and then you tell me that. I then calmly try to say no I told you this and now I'm telling you I'm not sure if you can just mark threw that old order. This time she takes the chart and smacks it down and start getting the other order and say things and going on with her mouth. By this time I had lost my cool but try to calm and say don't yell at me. Well anyway I got and went to get my supervisor because I wasn't having a white trash redneck argument with her. She says yes go tell on me now. I know on my supervisors door and tell her she better go do something with her because I was not getting talked to that way. When I walk back out she said toward me that if you think I was yelling, I will show you yelling. She was so lucky that was out where resident's were and I wouldn't get into it with her right there because I probably would have let her have it. Also my supervisor was right there behind me and was saying this is not place etc. Like I didn't know that but I sure wish we were in a different place.

What would have you done if you were in my place? I do not like confrontation and we did talk the rest of the evening but not related to what had happened.

Please do not criticize my grammar or punctuation, I was in a tizzy.

You handled the situation appropriately and anyone you work with, that has a good head on their shoulders, will see that she was the one making an a** of herself. I know how hard it is to restrain yourself in the work place, especially when you work with someone that thinks they are always right or has no filter. Sorry you are going through this. Many hugs!!!

Good for you for keeping your cool. I would let it run off your back...she is the one that made her self look like an ass.

It was very hard to restrain myself from just going off. I wanted to do the right thing and not sound like a tattle tale because I could have let it go to a childish argument.

Some people like that just need a real solid head butt. Buuuuuuuut since you can'd do that, you did good. You weren't tattling on her, if you just ignored a situation like that, it seems to give those types of people power and she would continue with her redneck ways ;)  At least now she knows you aren't going to just cower and take it.
