Location: Deep South | A lot of your attitude comes from your mare. I would say more so than your stud. |

Location: Riding Crackhead. | I bred my mare to Bender who from what I've been told by his owner and his caretaker is he's the sweetest thing ever. My mare is my baby girl but she's nasty with an attitude. Her filly inherited her mothers attitude. |

| Are you looking for good attitude or "bad" attitude?
My now 4 yr old mare out of Mighty Mind Bender has a phenominal mind and work ethic and is sooo much fun to ride. I'd take a whole trailer full of them if I could find them. I've had 5 Firewater Finale colts and they have all been super nice to work with and train. I have 2 now and am determined to keep one for myself.

Location: SE Louisiana | Both Impressive and Hancock are known to produce bad attitudes for generations. At farrier school we were warned about picking fights with Hancock mares and anything Impressive... |

I'm hoping my Bender child is going to be like yours. She's 2 this spring and built like a brick poop house. LOL Not sure she'll make a barrel horse but my brother is eyeing her for a rope horse. She's a brat but that's thanks to her mom and her 2 legged mom. Her mothers bad attitude made her an awesome horse though in no matter what event you put her in. |

Location: DUMPING CATS AND PIGS IN TEXAS :) | I have two little hellion's. They are sister's and got it from their Momma.
Chicks Beduino is a controversial one lol....some love him, some won't touch him.
I wasn't fond of my Apollo daughter and her colt was equally nasty.
And, I'd touch a Holland Ease, but it would be with a ten foot pole first, just to make sure she didn't want to eat me. |

Location: Midwest | I always heard Native Dancer (TB) horses were a bit flighty, but he's so far back now it really is irrelevant
Plus I was around some grandsons that were fine.
My Impressive horse is fine, solid as a rock (though he is a great grandson I think... so yeah)
My friend also has a hancock bred mare that never bucked and is super calm...so there ya go. lol |

| I attribute 90% of attitude to the mare. Attitude is more learned than genetics (more, not all) and the mare is where a foal learns attitude from. I've watched it over and over again with my foals. I have a nutcase mare who has passed on that behavior to all her foals. But if I put the foal in with calm and laid back horses when they are weaned they will drop the silly behaviors almost 100%.
There are some characteristics that are sometimes very much from the sire too, hence the 90% instead of 100%. Bully passed on his stubborn streak to a majority of his foals. Both of mine, out of very different personalitied mares, had the stubborn to some degree. The older colt out of the more stubborn mare was classic. The younger colt out of a higher strung but not as stubborn mare is easier to work with but still has a tinge of stubborn too, and especially if a trainer picks a fight.
I knew a halter sire line, Temon, non Impressive, not HYPP, who threw the nastiest tempered horses I've ever met. I had to have 2 forks in hand to clean the stall with the one son. One for the poop and one to keep him from trying to kill me. To halter him took an act of coordination to get him to bite the chain instead of your hand and get the halter over his ears without getting your arm bit off.
I do not understand why anyone would want to perpetuate a line known for aggressive and dangerous behavoir. 'Hot' lines are one thing, but aggressive and dangerous is a whole other animal, literally. |
