I bought a new pair of boots online love the boots BUT the tops are narrow and my fat calves don't fit in them. Can they be stretched or am I going to have to cut them? If they can be stretched can I do it myself or do I need to take them to a boot maker?

Yes, they can be stretched. I'm not sure if you can do them yourself. I imagine you could google stretchers. I just cut mine. It's easier and cheaper.

There are special stretchers for the tops of boots. I personally wouldn't spend the money on them unless I had several pairs to do, because a boot shop/leather repair shop can stretch them for less money. They can only be stretched to a certain point though, because if the stretcher gets too tight it can bust the seams. If the boots can't be stretched enough you could also have a leather repair shop cut them and then put another piece leather in the space.
