With so much talk of feeds going on...
horsemath.com
I work my horses pretty steadily, if I was just on a grass diet of coastal grass I only need to feed mine a supplement that would raise zinc, iodine, selenium, cobalt and Vit A,D and E

Its so funny you mention the oats.  I buy bulk oats and put in a bin in my barn.  The last load I got was HORRIBLE!  It was so small and terribly dirty.  When I complained about it the gal said it was small because of the drought and the great fix she had for the dust was - well we can add molasses to it!  I said I don't want molasses and the dust is still there just stick down with molasses.  She had no answer then.  At Christmas I was at my brothers who raises registered Clydesdales.  I went out while they did chores and caught a glimpse of a bucket of oats that he raised and about wet myself.  It was huge and dust free.  I gave him the cutest little sister smile and as sweet as possible I said - that sure looks better than what I've been buying.  He fell for it hook line and sinker.  He said - I'll plant extra this spring - be here with a truck.  WoooooooHoooooo!

Ba-ha-ha-ha-ha...I always wanted an automated answering machine that said, "Press 1 for English, press 2 for Canadian."  I tried answering the phone that way once with one of our friends...I think he thought I was serious at first.

Any ways, thanks for posting that. Can't wait to try the feed calculator. :)

My brother that raises the Clydesdales has some friends in Canada that also raise Clydes so they go up quite often.  I about died when my little nephew said to me one day - Aunt Val, guess what?  I know a foreign language!  I speak Canadian!  He was totally serious.

My husband and I loved S.Dakota, Icould seriously move there. When we were up at Belle he was talking to the couple next to us about our dwindling alfalfa supplies. They left and came back with a truck load to fill our pod-then didn't want us to pay for it. Talk about hospitality!
Loved our time there.

I'm happy to hear that.  I do love my State.  The hospitality is amazing.  The winters.......leave a lot to be desired.
