| I recently found out that we will be moving to North Carolina (from the midwest)! What are good organizations to join, places to run, etc? Any other information is greatly appreciated! Also - I could join either NBHA NC 06 or NBHA NC 07 - both districts would be doable as far as location, etc - any suggestions on which district to join? Any other info is greatly appreciated. Thank you! |

Location: NC | I use to run district 7. I recently have been running COBRA and like them a lot (http://cobrabarrels.weebly.com/). It is longer huals for me but they pay MUCH better. I also ran at the Carousel tuesday night Rodeo in Raleigh,NC this past summer (http://carouselfarmsraleigh.com/). They sometimes have a Friday night Bulls n Barrels in Goldston, NC (https://www.facebook.com/palomino.arena?fref=ts). They have EZ Run in the Benson, NC area (http://www.ezrunpro.com/). They have DCWPBRA in Goldsboro, NC area(http://dcwestern.homestead.com/). They have the 5 Star series but that is more SC and a couple in Lumberton, NC (http://fivestarbarrelracing.com/).
What area are you moving to? Hope this helps. :)

| It sounds like Horses N Harleys is closer to where you are moving, so I'll just add that there are a lot of places to run in NC. IBRA & NBHA are both pretty big as far as divisional races, I think NC07 & NC03 are the 2 biggest districts, so that may influence your decision. I like to run and get out, and be able to qualify to the World easily, so I really prefer the smaller districts. There are a lot of small weekly jackpots all around the state. Most of them give year end awards and are run well.
There are also some rodeo associations if you rodeo:
SRA - http://www.srarodeo.com/
and some IPRA close: http://www.ipra-rodeo.com/

| I'm not exactly sure where you are moving to, but there are several good assocations. There is a winter series (and there will be a summer series too) Every other friday night in Stanley, NC. It's a heated indoor so it's warm in the winter and everyone is super friendly. |

Location: Where ever there's sunshine! | I just moved here. I have one headed to training in spring so I won't be running for a while but might make some trips to check out the competition and the arenas! |

| I moved from Minnesota to North Carolina almost 2 years ago! I am not sure exactly where you are moving to. But there are some nice indoor arenas close by. Lone Hickory is super nice and is located in Yadkinville. They have some big barrel races. I do have to say though, you should definitely trail ride here! Blue Ridge Parkway, Moses Cone, tons of other places.
I also run NC06 and the people are great.
The mountains are beautiful!
Welcome! Where are you moving from?

| If NC06 and NC07 are local NBHA districts for you, you must be moving somewhere north of Raleigh, in the Oxford/Mebane area? There is something to run at every weekend here in NC, within a 2 hour radius! I'm the NC02 director and we are south of Raleigh (although we have members that come from VA and many from the Greensboro area). NC02 is the second largest district in NC--NC01 is the largest by far, they are more to the east.
In your area (from what I can gather), IBRA is pretty strong, along with NBHA which is popular throughout the entire state.
Here are several sites I would reccomend:
www.cbhnews.com which is a free monthly barrel racing magazine, with a state-wide calendar.
www.nbhanc02.com
www.nbhanc09.com
www.nbhanc01.com
www.nc07.com
www.fivestarbarrelracing.com
www.cobrabarrels.weebly.com
www.ibra.us
Hope this helps a bit :) |

| Dr. Jim Meeker at Davie County Large Animal is great!!! He is widely used around the state. Located in Mocksville.
Also Dr. Jack Schuler is in Durham (I think). I've used him as well and he is also great.
And Dr. Lisa Baucom in Statesville is really good too.
All 3 of the above are vets that I use either now or have used before and I highly recommend them! |

Iagree ^
Dr. Meeker is near me, and is very well thought of.
Dr. Lisa Baucom practices out Statesville Bovine & Equine with her husband, Dr. Travis Blackwelder & Dr. Dwight Blackwelder and Dr. Pendergrass. They are excellent!!
Also Dr. Gardner in Salisbury. |

Location: NC | I have used and like Dr Meeker just hate that long haul. I use Dr Wheeler with Premier Equine mobile Vet. She also does Chiro. now too.
I have a friend with a big farm in Durham and they use a really good farrier that does a lot of corrective shoeing. If you think u might be interested I could get his name n number for u. I personally live an hour north of Durham and use a local farrier. I like him but not sure if he goes all the way to Durham. |

Location: USA | Lone Hickory Arena is by far one of the nicest arena's I've been to! It's just an overall nice place and the people there are really nice as well. I compete in the IBHA sometimes and then I compete in the Jr.SRA (I'm 16) |

| We have lots of great associations to run in NC :) NBHA & IBRA included!!
EZ Run
http://ezrunpro.com/
5 Star (this association has lots of added $$)
http://fivestarbarrelracing.com/
Seven Branch Farm (Newer, just started in 2013, but fun place)
http://www.7brancharena.com/
Carousel Farms (Great for summer rodeos)
http://carouselfarmsraleigh.com/
DC Western (Fun to run, but tend to get rained out a lot because of their clay ground)
http://dcwestern.homestead.com/
Lumberton (This is an arena, not an association but have a lot of great shows there)
http://www.lumberton-nc.com/calendar.php
Turning K (New series that is starting up this year)
https://www.facebook.com/Littlekimturn3?fref=ts (This is a link to the FB page that runs it and the show flyer is on her page)
Palomino Sports Arena & SEBRA (Small Friday night rodeos)
https://www.facebook.com/palomino.arena
COBRA
http://cobrabarrels.weebly.com/
There are rodeos throughout the year (maybe 3 or 4 big ones) This is a great state for barrel shows, just wish we had more bigger and more hard core rodeos!!!
Hope your move is a smooth one and you enjoy NC!!!
