Place to Rent and Place to Board- Help!

Hello Everyone,
I am from Minnesota and will be moving to Missouri for Graduate school in Columbia. I am hoping to find a place to rent in the country near Columbia. I have no idea where to start looking nor do I now a single sole that lives in MO. Any help or ideas would be appreciated! I would like to find a place to keep my horses
(only 2 for the time being
) so I don't have to find somewhere else to board. This would save time and money! I know that this is a tall order and may not be possible, so I am also open to ideas on where I can board near Columbia. I would like a place with and indoor and outdoor arena. I don't necessarily needs stalls but it would be preferred as long as there are outdoor turnouts to put them during the day. Turnouts or pasture with some sort of shelter will work too! Please let me know if you have any ideas it will help out a lot! Eventually I will be asking about which circuits are around for me to join :
) !

Do some internet research on riding clubs, arenas in that area. Make a few phone calls to directors and organizers might help, they might know of someone in the area with property or a boarding facility.

Call the vet school -- they might be able to make recommendations.
eta: There used to be a teacher at the vet school that used or still barrel races / I'll see if I can get her name for you?
or PM me your contact info and I'll try to pass it on.

Oh dang some friends of mine just rented their place that would have been perfect. if the renter moves out I will let you know but they said she seems pretty happy there with her 3 horses. William Woods University under their equestrian studies page has a list of local barns and I believe it lists what each place has to offer. Also check craigslist for the Columbia/Jeff City area as there is usually some posts on there. I know a barn up the road from us just reopened under a William Woods graduate and she offers most of what you are looking for, not sure about the outdoor arena though. Stephens College is also in Columbia they also have an equestrian program which may have information on it as well. I would also talk to some people at the vet school as I m sure some of them might know some place as most of them are active in the equine community. Columbia has a couple of barrel bashes a year as well as Ashland Saddle Club has a nice arena and they have regular horse shows. Also the Sho Me Circuit is a local circuit that runs most weekends during the summer and their clubs have fun shows usually March through October with some of those clubs also having NBHA or speed shows. Ashland is about 15 minutes from Columbia. Welcome to the area. We usually have lots going on.
