Horse Boots...
I know this topic has been discussed so many times out there... But i'm looking for acutal Scientific opinions... I usually use the Elite's but I have one mare that injured her suspensory last year. I'm wondering if i should try the Iconoclast boots.
Anyone have any scientific data that proves that these acutally support better? I know the Elite have been proven to absorb 26% more impact than other boots... Any vets or farriers out there that understand all the tendons and ligaments out there that can give me their opinion? thanks!

My gelding recovered from a 40% tear in rear so like you, I want to do all I can for him. My vet said he did not think it made a difference in what boot I used, that a boot would not prevent that type of injury. That said, no data but I feel most confident with the iconoclast. He said the best thing I could do is a good slow warm up with lots of walking and trotting and ice legs after every run which I faithfully do.

My gelding hurt his suspensory mid Sept while farting around in the pasture. He's still not 100%. I guess I never thought about what rear boots would be better for him once I'm running him again. I'm a CE girl but maybe I should get him something else.

RE: Horse Boots...
Thanks for your replies!! My mare stumbled at a barrel race and was a little gimpy at a trot, it was the end of the season so i just gave her the whole winter off to heal. I love my Elite Ventech's cuz the fit so good and breathe nicely but i'm afraid they arent enough support! and I'm wondering if the Iconoclast really will offer more support or not? But because of the extra strap they look kindof bulky and i'm not sure if they would get in the way of the bell boots and movement....
Please keep your replies coming!!

My vet also told me that he didn't think the brand made a difference, that he gets frustrated by brands claiming to prevent this or that and give more support than another brand. Wish I could be of more help...but he told me to just use what I had and if I wanted to use polo wraps that they would be fine also, just would not give as much protection if he hit himself.

RE: Horse Boots...
I did ask my vet.. she told me that she is friends with the creator and she thinks they are a really good boot..... but she never did say they were better than any others...
I did purchase a used pair that i'm gonna try as soon as it warms up! My hubby is a farrier so when i put them on he's gonna watch my horse move and run and i'm gonna get his opinoin on them...
