| Really needing some help here!!
I have been using these ESP pads for a while now, but its just because my trainer uses them as well as a lot of the girls I run with.
How does everyone think they compare? Any and all comments welcomed, I just want to make a well informed decision!

Location: Riding Crackhead. | I'm a die hard 5 Star user but I recently purchased an ESP pad to try on one mare to see if it works a little better for her since its thicker. The only reason I'm trying it is at the recommendation from the gal I bought her from and this is the set up she used on her and everything fit great. I'm in the frozen tundra and its just now starting to warm up so I'll be able to try it out hopefully later today.
I did notice its quite a bit heavier than my 5 Stars and its soft. I'm not much help to you though.  |

| What was it that you didn't like about it? Did it effect your horse negatively? |

Location: Central Texas | I do not like my ESP pad. I tried it on several different horses with different saddles and it's just not my favorite. I prefer my 5star pad. I felt like the ESP was much stiffer and would slide back under my saddle. I do know several girls though that love their ESP pads...I'm just not one of them. |

Location: North Dakota | I have an ESP that I've had for a couple years, I really liked it and still do, but it's starting to wear out so I bought an In the Zone pad and a Saddleright. I have to say that both of my new pads, do not slip the way the ESP pad did. It took quite a few sweaty backs to get the ESP to stay in place. I do think that some of the slipping is from a saddle that doesn't fit quite as good as it should but in the same respect I love the thickness of the ESP for a saddle that doesn't fit as good :) My Zone pad I use under my rope saddle that fits very well and the saddleright under my barrel saddle, both of those are great pads too, the only reason I didn't order another ESP is well......I wanted to try something "better" but I'm not so sure that either of these pads do a better job than the ESP they just do not slip. (I do think the zone pad gives more shock absorbtion when my heeling horse takes a hit though) I wouldn't hesitate to buy another ESP though. |

Location: College Station, TX | I have one with the fleece bottom that has been used about 10 times, and now makes a really good dog bed!
On my rounder horse it slid sideways no matter what saddle I had it under, and my other 2 it slid back. Gave up on it. |

Location: Peach State | Get the contoured fit not wool top. Wool top is too stiff and not enough flex, however the wool too esp I have has held up great, I have two one is 7, one is 5 yrs old and they still look great just work better for heavier roping saddles compared to the contoured fit which works better for smaller barrel saddles. |

The felt top is thinner and offers great protection. I've had mine now for 5 years and its still in really good condition.
I also really really like my Zone pad. Its lightweight and offers great protection:) Always had an even sweat before my saddle became an "issue." |

How thick is the contoured? I probably should have been clearer with the wool top it was like throwing up a "slab" of pad. I would bet if it were contoured by that wither area it may be better:) Since I had also purchased the felt top I just started using it and fell in love with it. Then I got a saddle that really fit the horse and I needed an even thinner pad than the felt top, so I bought the zone pad and love it too:)
Then the horse changed and the saddle became too big and then I had issues with the zone crunching in around the wither area. LOL Its never ending I swear. |

Its contoured quite a bit but also pretty thick compared to my 5 Stars. The regular pad seemed so stiff and square. I'm used to the 5 Stars. I have a young horse that is filling out. My Cactus CJ is a little wide right now. The 1" 5 Star works really well but the friend I bought the mare from suggested trying the ESP pad since that's what worked for her. I know she'll fill out quite a bit and won't have to worry about fit. |
