It doesn't matter to me, especially if they are geldings. All three of my young ones are appendix but the TB in them is at least a couple generations back. They will carry the Appendix until they earn a ROM (I think that's right) and get "white" papers (the old AQHA appendix papers were yellow). Here are my 3 appendix horses:

2012 filly: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/guilty+az+charged

2013 colt: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/cashcheckorcharge2

2011 gelding: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/thc+lil+moon

I don't think they have any different "traits" than any other "white" papered quarter horse, good or bad.

This is mine.  He is 13 this year and I have owned him for 3.  Last year he really started to come on but then he started abcessing and has been out since October.  He is a spook.  You have to be careful where you tie him because if he sees something he isn't sure of he will pull back everytime until he is loose, that means breaking a string (that we usually tie him to) or breaking a lead rope.

He is a great trail and mountain horse and will go all day long.  If we could keep him sound he would be a consistent 1D horse all day long if I could keep up with him.  He also doesn'ty like running indoors.  I don't know if it is because he has a cataract in one eye or if he doesn't like the closed off feeling.  Even when I ride him in our indoor at home he spooks at everything.

I disliked him for almost 2 years and now I have come to know his little quirks and actually like him a lot.
