Regular Posts: 72	Is the frenchmans guy breeding a high powered type? I'm owning my first one and she is a nut case. Deciding whether or not to use some supplements to calm her or if it's the breeding thats in her. Note: She has Bugs Alive in 75 too if that makes a difference.

Sock Snob Posts: 3021	The frenchmans guy should be trainable as well firewater flit. I like blazin jetolina but he is real small like 14.3. We need to start a trainabilty and build like bone. Jet of honor well hem has been dead for a while, there are trainable and quiet.

The Advice Guru Posts: 6419	It took many years for my frenchmans guy grand baby to grow up, the bottom side of my horse was very mellow I rode quite of few of them, so I do attribute the attitude towards the stallion.

I have barrel raced all last year without her being a "bronc" but she has started rearing badly. 4. She's only been stiff once but her feet werent the best(last year). 5. We feed all our barrel horses grain and that might be affecting her. ---do any of these seem like she could have it? I am contacting my vet tomorrow afternoon but want other opinions also. **If she hasn't shown signs last year could she still have it right now showing some signs now?

She is young and still learning the pattern, I have just been conditioning her the past month and started working the pattern approx. a week and a half ago. I know she's not sick of it because she does want to go go go. And I don't work them everyday.(she's still in training but definitely knows what a barrel is just needs improvement) Our high for our weather is 15 degrees so I can't do much other than condition. The last time she went to the massage/chiro was last fall. I don't know if she would be sore again..

Take her off the grain as stated above and if you can put her on Bermuda free choice for a couple weeks and as long as she holds her weight and doesnt get skinny or poor looking on you. Just see how she does. I had a super hot mare and has her on alfalfa and grain. and she looked great but was a loony. I switched to what i said above and it made her 40% better, and she still looked like a million bucks
