Is anyone using the solar automatic waterers? They are such a neat idea and I'm interested in how well they work.

I'm not sure if what I haVe is what you are talking about. I have a 3.9 gallon per minute 12 volt sure flo pump hooked to a deep cycle marine battery. The battery is charged by 12 volt solar panel I got at an army surplus store. I only use it in the summer. The pump is floating in the mouth of a spring on a cooler top. The whole set up is actually pretty funky looking, but will keep several head of cattle watered. I actually have about $350-400 in it. It needs checked everyday, so it's not exactly maintenance free. The pump won't cycle trash very well at all. Soon as it warms up a bit, I have better plan for the system.
