Location: Kansas | is a cashier's check? I'm buying a saddle and the gentleman said he would accept a cashiers check....thing is, I've never sent one. How do I go about getting one? How safe are they?

Location: Gainesville, TX | Cashier's check is basically like cash, so long as it is not stolen while mailed. You cannot write a 'hot' cashier's check as they have to be purchased with cash. |

From the bank!
Could you do a wire transfer?
Can you get any "references" on the seller?

I got mine from a bank and they required a name and a physical address of the person getting it to put on the check. |

| How do you know it is a legitimate cashiers check? Check printing software is all over the place now days, I could make a check look very real and have the fraudulant account number on it. If you do take one, call the bank and verify that they actually issued it. If they can verify that, you are golden. |

Location: Up and over to the right | Are money orders safe too? I thought you had to bring cash to like the post office and you can send a note to someone to cash at another post. Or can they be counterfeited too? |

Ditto on having to sign for it, that way you know that he gets it, and you can get one at your bank. |
