Expert Posts: 1857	Am I the only one that gets irritated when I see this or someone tells me this!! I know it's small and petty but dang people....... If you want to sell a horse please understand how to measure one! Every time I see it I want to correct them but I don't want to embarrass them so I keep my mouth shut. I assume they are trying to say the horse is 15 1/2 hh but just don't understand that when measuring in hands the dot does not represent a fraction but an inch. Ok that's my rant for the day!

This bugs me too. You cannot measure properly without a stick--tape is not accurate. I have big horses and need a ladder to get on. It bugs me when I say that my 2 year old is 15-2 and no one believes me. Yes there is a BIG difference bugs me between a 14-1 horse and 15-1 horse. OK, it just bugs me when people act like they know what they are talking about and they are clueless.

I'm not opinionated Posts: 4597 Location: Online	Yes that is irritating. A lot of people don't know how to measure. I've seen ads that said the horse is 6 feet tall and another one was 7 feet tall. I wondered if that was to the top of his head? Is that how high his head is when they try to bridle him? Or did they get him to stand on his hind legs? LOL! My ad pet peeve is when they say guilding instead of gelding. I read one once that said gelding stud. I've also read some that called the horse a gelding and repeatedly referred to the horse as "she". I love reading craigslist ads.

I was 28 and winning pro rodeos before anybody taught me the correct way to measure a horse...don't be so judgemental...be grateful your parents TOOK you to 4H camps to learn this stuff...mine did not. Find something more important than that to get twisted off about. There is plenty enough to choose from.
