Am I the only one that gets irritated when I see this or someone tells me this!! I know it's small and petty but dang people....... If you want to sell a horse please understand how to measure one! Every time I see it I want to correct them but I don't want to embarrass them so I keep my mouth shut. I assume they are trying to say the horse is 15 1/2 hh but just don't understand that when measuring in hands the dot does not represent a fraction but an inch.

Ok that's my rant for the day!

that doesn't bother me as much as when someone advertises their horse as 15.2 or 15.3 and i get there and its 14.1 at best... and then argues with you about it.

I JUST had this conversation with a friend last night!! We were laughing about how people need to head back to 4-H and learn what it all means. Don't worry, you are not the only one who is annoyed by this!

This bugs me too. You cannot measure properly without a stick--tape is not accurate. I have big horses and need a ladder to get on. It bugs me when I say that my 2 year old is 15-2 and no one believes me. Yes there is a BIG difference bugs me between a 14-1 horse and 15-1 horse. OK, it just bugs me when people act like they know what they are talking about and they are clueless.

Yes that is irritating. A lot of people don't know how to measure. I've seen ads that said the horse is 6 feet tall and another one was 7 feet tall. I wondered if that was to the top of his head? Is that how high his head is when they try to bridle him? Or did they get him to stand on his hind legs? LOL!

My ad pet peeve is when they say guilding instead of gelding. I read one once that said gelding stud. I've also read some that called the horse a gelding and repeatedly referred to the horse as "she".  I love reading craigslist ads.

they say ignorance is bliss - but for whom?          sure isn't for me - it raises my blood pressure every time I read/hear people say such things  I really just want to hand them a "sign".

What bothers me worse than that is all the "kids horses" I find. Just because a horse is gentle does not mean it is kid friendly. This "kid's horse" or "kid friendly" title is usually followed by "green broke" or "needs more riding" in the same ad.

This is very annoying!  Reminds me of a converstion I was having with my older sister when her husband was close by.  We were talking about how when she (my sister) graduated college, she had a 4.0.  She really worked hard and is super smart.  Anyhow, my BIL, always trying to one-up everyone, said that his GPA was a 4.1.  LOL Doofus....

Or how about the "kid horse" that just needs to be "seasoned"

For argument's sake, in high school AP classes could earn you 4.3 on your GPA for an A+ instead of 4.0...but I wasn't aware that the college scale worked that way.

Most of the time I have to bite my tongue on ads like that because I REEEEAAAAALLLLYYY want to respond and correct all their mistakes.

I was 28 and winning pro rodeos before anybody taught me the correct way to measure a horse...don't be so judgemental...be grateful your parents TOOK you to 4H camps to learn this stuff...mine did not. Find something more important than that to get twisted off about. There is plenty enough to choose from.
