| I can hear her hind end clicking when I walk her... I'm pretty sure it's her stifle. She doesn't want me to pick up her foot all the way to her flank either, I think she's hurting... Any input on this? I told my vet about the noise and he said it's probably not bothering her, but I'm wondering if anyone else has dealt with this?
Also my gelding (who I've had for 2 years) started a clicking noise in his hip today! It's never happened before with him... HELP lol |

Location: SE Oklahoma | My gelding does this. He's done it since he was 3-4 and he's 8 now. I'm interested to hear input, I've always been told it's probably nothing. |

| Thats certainly something you want looked at. There are many posts on here with similar horses. Search loose or sticky stifles.

| She doesn't have a problem with it locking, it just pops. And she really really didn't want me picking up her left hind foot today either. I wouldn't worry if it was just popping but the fact that she seemed bothered when I tried to pick up her foot to her flank worries me a little more.. Guess I'll talk to the vet some more -_- |

| probably a "catching" patella, its just not sticking. hard to say if it ever will. your vet will have the answers for ya. I had a 14 yr gelding get a catching patella, he was retired from mountain/wilderness rides and sold as a more semi-retired trail horse. |

Location: North Dakota | Definitely sounds like the stifle. Have it looked at and consider injections and/or a conditioning program. I have a 7yr old gelding that has clicked since he was 4yr and I was always told it's nothing, etc well for the last 2-3 yrs I have been battleing issues because of it. He never locked up but it must have been popping enough to cause some damage. It has been a very frustrating ordeal. |

It sounds like you may have two problems, picking up the foot and getting resistance, this to me sounds like hock problems, I had one like this and we had to fuse his hocks.
The clicking, if the horse isn't in shape, may just be a loose stifle, if the horse is in condition it may be sticking, the horse doesn't have to lock up for the stifle to be sticky.
I suggest going to a good vet and having the horse examined |

| Yeah we are headed out to the vet today. She just turned 6 and has never done this before, I've owned her since she was 3. Saying she's in shape would be an understatement, lol. She's a swole house. She's only recently started semi-running the pattern so I wouldn't think she should have that many joint issues. But the vet will look at her today and ill post the results! |

| I've had two horses do this and the vet said that when they are more race horse bred they will some times do this. He said it has soemthing to do with the muscle moving over the stifle because they grew so fast. But if she doesn't want you touching it I would say something could be wrong. Neither of my horses ever got sore like that or seemed like it bothered them, just a very loud clicking when they move in any gait. |

I don't think your horse was being a brat, she was sore, I hope you got X-rays and didn't let a vet inject blind.

Yeah I'm not about to pay for an X-ray just to turn around and pay to be injected. Cheaper to just inject - not like it will hurt them. |
