What would be the best snaffle mouth piece for keep pressure to a min on the bars and tongue. Single, double joint, Mullen? Horse has weak tongue and previously damaged bars.

Maybe a 3 piece bit or a chain mouth?

My gelding is broke really well, very sensitive, cutting horse bred, and hates even a smooth fat plains lightly shanked snaffle, he would shake his head rarely, but it just bugged me, because I know I'm a light handed rider, and knew the bit wasn't pinching him,had teeth looked at, chiro, vet-nothing. Put him In a 3 PC dog bone he quieted down a little, then tried a chain mouth Rosie gag
Absolutely loves it, no more head shaking.no more constantly playing with the bit.:

I wouldn't use a mullen if he doesn't like bar and tongue pressure. The chain mouth piece is what I would try first. It won't work off the bars like a snaffle but the cheeks and gives just slight tongue pressure. You might look into a gag with a chain mouthpiece, it might give him time to respond to the poll pressure before the mouth is engaged. Reinsman Rosie gag with the large chain mouth piece or carol goosetrees simplicity.
