Saddle fitting a 4 yr old?

I don't currently have a saddle I'm happy with the fit on my 4 yr old colt. Would it be best to have a saddle maker fit him and build a saddle on a tree for him or just go w a used saddle I find that fits him now. His mom was not very wide and I don't imagine he will grow out that much. He is only 4 though..

I would not spend the money on a custom saddle for him just yet, I would wait till he was finished growning and filling out. I would just buy a nice used saddle that is as close to fitting him as possible for now, you know hes going to be changing so much befor hes all done with his growing.

Thanks Karen :
) Knowing he will grow is the tough part bc he definitely will grow. I'm just not sure if he will grow much more to make a big difference. His mother isn't very wide and has more withers than he does. I wish I had a saddle fitter near me to take him to.

you know them better then anyone for sure.. and I also totally understand why you would want a good fitting one now for him.... you can always custom it and resell later or wait for next youngster if he does indeed outgrow it later.. i had my custom henig made for my 4 yr old warmbloods.LOL .and revised later..

If this is for Boyfriend and you are having trouble fitting him I'll gladly take him off your hands and find a saddle that works. Its the least I can do to help a girl out.

What type/brand of saddle are you thinking of?
I say if you have the extra funds, go for it.
