Cowgirl Kat - 2014-03-17 12:09 PM My horse has allergies, all I did was have Bob from THE make a supplement based off of her blood test and it cleared it up. But she also had environmental allergies. Always worth a shot.

Did you try the allergy shots in addition to having Bob make you something? Just wonder which is more cost effective

Those that have done the testing, about how much did that run you? I should have asked my vet last week when he said that would be our next step if this didn't work. He said it can get kinda pricey, so that scared me off. Lol. But he's really cheap to begin with so his pricey may not be as bad as my pricey.

I've tried lots of oral supplements and TriHist in the past, but nothing has helped mine. I had a different vet scope her and we are currently trying something else, but if that doesn't work then we will do a panel on her and go from there.

I want to say it was 200 ish? I can't even remember with all the other prices and treatments we did. I had her scoped then pulled blood for an allergy test. Now ordering the shots. Uff!

I also tried tri hist and didn't see any improvement. Air power seems to help as well as ventipulmin but that was when I was trying to figure out what was going on!

no I didn't do the allergy shots. Just tried the supplement first. I figured it was the least expensive option.

Dr. White at Sallisaw did mine and it seems like it was $160.

My total after testing and the injection set was just under $500...it's only money right?

Yeah I am just glad I am not adding together all the testing and treating up to this point because I would probably have a stroke!

I have a horse that itches all the time.  He wants to rub his legs on things,  When he is tied he backs up to anything to try to rub on it.  He rubs his tail and under his tail.  He will backup to water buckets and itch then boop in the water bucket.

He sheath has swelled when I have rode in outside in the tall grass in the spring and summer.  I think he has allergies too, but not having any help with local vets as to what to do unless his sheath swells.  They give him a shot when that happens.  Anyone els have this problem?
