 Am I really the Weirdo?

Location: Kansas | I went to a Lung Cancer fundraiser race yesterday and while I didn't get a 1D check, my horses worked pretty well and I'm excited to share that Clifford was 7th out of 158. Of course they only paid 6 holes, but Chance got a decent check in the 2D to pay for the day. Clifford's run -- http://youtu.be/Gsd3LOOGGT0?t=31s (Sorry about it being so long. Mom started taping before they even had the timer checked, then I had to let him settle down in the alley before taking off.) Chance's run -- http://youtu.be/dvDzcAr8A30 This was Chance's first run since Feb. 23. We've changed some things on his feet and I think he feels pretty good, but I'm not entirely sure we have everything sorted out.
Plus, Streak (who my brother calls Howard) loped around the third barrel perfectly in an exhibition. When he decides to focus and pay attention, he is catching on quickly. We are still working on getting him to use his butt and to move with some arc, but I feel pretty confident that I'll have him working a smooth pattern in time for my brother to ride him at the county fair in July. |

| DANG!! You leave no pocket at all and he doesnt look like he is moving that fast, but you cant argue with 7th out of 150+. Nice job!

Thanks! I should have run him into each barrel a little farther before I dropped my outside rein but we squeaked by them for once. Cliff is 15.3 and has a monster stride on him so he covers ground and doesn't always look fast. I was watching the last 30 or so run and people were making really nice runs, then they'd be 16.4, 16.5, 16.7 and I was feeling better about Cliff with each run I watched. |

Uh yeah! I didn't realize we actually rocked the 1st and I didn't know we were so close on the way into the 2nd until I watched the video. LOL. He is scary and I wish some folks who critique my riding on him would get in the saddle and feel what I feel......its like an amusement park ride with fast stops and starts, but with money on the line which makes it even more nerve-wracking! lol. |

Thanks :) By riding Chance and him the last couple years, I have gotten pretty good at that move. LOL. It is a good thing they're big! I tried to do it on Matt's mare yesterday working her at the house and it's not so easy on a 14.2 hand horse as on those big fellas!
lindseylou - I also love Domer. Chance almost always wins money in there - I think he won money like 9 out of 12 runs there last year - and Clifford is beginning to really work in there. We hit barrels the first 7 runs we made at Domer but have gotten it figured out now I think. |
