Do any of you stallion owners have an example of a contract for buying an unweaned colt? Thanks!

Whether you are buying one or selling one, be sure and put in there an earliest and latest date the foal can be picked up. I bought a weanling many many years ago and the breeder weaned him super early. I signed a contract that he would be weaned at four months (this was the breeder's routine), and I would have two weeks to pick him up before she started charging me board. Well she decided to wean the colt at 2 1/2 months. I was too young and naive to push back and make her follow through with waiting till he was at least four months old, so I went and picked him up. I was pretty miffed because I didn't have his pen ready yet, so had to throw one together so he would have a place to stay away from the other horses.
Looking back, I should have put a stipulation in there that the foal not be weaned until a certain date, unless there were extenuating circumstances. Live and learn!
