| I was looking for a cheap (but not cheaply made) saddle to just trail ride in. Theres a tack shop that has a used Masters for sale. It looks like pretty decent from the pictures, but hard to judge without actually putting my hands on it. I found the Masters saddlery website but it really doesn't have much info. Has anyone ever seen/used one? What the the quality similar to? |

Location: west of East Texas | My daughters have won four of them. The oldest being a 2008 barrel saddle. It's been ridden pretty hard and not cared for very well. It is solid. I don't know of any issues it has except the stirrups. It has some type of slanted stirrup and DD1 doesn't care for them but hasn't bothered to change them out. The next one is a 2009 roping saddle. It has been ridden even harder by her stepbrothers and they don't have any issues with it. The 2012 and 2013 barrel saddles haven't been used that hard yet. I ride in them when I need a second saddle and the girls aren't looking. :) I like it just fine. |

| Some of the saddles weren't handmade and were very cheaply made. There was a Lot of not so positive posts on Masters saddles. He went out of business I believe. |

| Well I definitely got one of the cheaply made ones. The leather on it honestly isn't bad, or I should say wouldn't be bad if it had actually been cared for and the bottoms of the fenders weren't covered in mold. The tree on the other hand is complete garbage. I have no idea what sort of horse it would even fit, It seems to have a 5" gullet with the most bizarre bar angles. I wouldn't even touch this thing to my horses back. It went right back in the box, sooo glad I can ship it back! |

Location: Northern CA | Hated the Master trophy saddle I won. The leather was thick, but had a wierd, plasticy texture, it fit all of my horses wierd, not impressed. |

Location: western Nebraska | I have a Kay Young Master's saddle. It wasn't cheap and it is a super nice saddle. We had a custom seat put in after it was bought so it isn't as hard as the barebones ones. I just sold the horse I used it on so I will be putting an ad on here for it. I have seen the trophey line though and wouldn't use one of them. |

| I have a Master's that I bought at the Cowboy Christmas in Vegas in 2006. Sat on it at the show and it seemed fine but when I out it on a horse, not so much but that is MY bad. It has a smaller, forward horn where I have gotten used to the higher, upright horn and I missed the horn during a run....it wasn't pretty.
As far as construction, I hear that it is made much better than the trophy saddles. It is made from water buffalo hide and I think it would last forever. I need something that will fit my fat, flat backed mare better so I really should sell it. It IS awful purty though (IMHO). |
