Ok so here is the fit on the billy cook. It seems to fit. One issue I have is that there is a bit of daylight at the back but the bars underneath feel like they are touching her back evenly to the end. What do you guys think? Yay or Nay?

also, does anyone know the difference between the CJ, BW and pro racer trees? this one is built on a CJ, but they tend to be pretty plain

Slide ur hand underneath. Is there equal pressure all the way from front to back of saddle? Sherry Cervi has a great youtube video discussing saddle fit and demonstrating.

I read meleta browns saddle fitting articles and it said to do that too. I did it and it kinda felt even but its really hard to tell.... my hand gets tangled in her long winter coat

Most of the billy cooks from Oklahoma are plain looking.

I would try a 2030 a Lynn Mackenzie tree, as the bars have a little more flare, the buster welsh in the billy cook I find fit a more narrow horse

I don't care if is green leopard print at this point, as long as it fits. I have a double J LM, is the billy cook the same? My LM special doesn't fit at all! not even close. not the the gullet or bars.

I have never rode in a double j Lynn Mackenzie, but I doubt they are the same, as she would not be able to take the tree with her when she jumped ship.
I do know they are a fairly short saddle lengthwise. I have an old cj billy cook, and a 2030, my 2030 fits more horses better then the cj.

looks a hair wide to me. but you can easily shim it. I'd prefer wide to tight. the BW tree is the modified Buster Welch tree. They are totally different.

Also wanted to mention my filly is going on 3 in june, so even if its a touch wide now, if every thing else fits it should be ok since she will get alot wider right?

I have three new Billy Cooks. A CJ, a BW and a wide gullet CJ. The trees fit very much the same and fit almost everything that I put them on. I only have the wide one for a horse that is as big as a clydesdale.

I'm not the best at judging saddle fit without the horse directly in front of me, but I do love my Billy Cook. It fits my gelding great.
