I am due to have my second c section on May 21st with my second son. I really want to kick things in the butt this time and get this baby weight off since this will be my last child and well it just needs to come off. I have already got my work out schedule planned out and I am wanting to choose foods that are big in bulk but lower in calories (so they fill me up without filling me out), such as whole-grain breads and cereals, fruits, and raw veggies. I want a lot of protein and calcium in my diet: fish, skinless chicken and turkey breasts, extra-lean beef, and eggs and calcium by doing some fast delicious smoothies (meal replacers for maybe breakfast and lunch when I am in a hurry). I have been doing more research and wondering if adding an all natural whey to my smoothies would be beneficial! I was looking at the following 3 products: MRM 100% All Natural Whey, Jorrows Formulas Whey Protein, or Sports Pharna Just Whey. Anyone use whey products on a regular basis and what are you guys thoughts!

I use Optimum Nutrition Whey. I just add it to Almond Milk, or regular Milk. I use it after my work outs, or a "snack" between breakfast and lunch.

I have a protein shake pretty much everyday. I NEVER replace a meal with one because it's just not enough sustenance to constitute as a meal for me personally. I'll end up eating an elephant at the end of the day.

Anyways, there are SO many protein shakes out there and they're all over the place for things like nutritional facts, cost, taste, and how your body handles it. I've tried a million of them but it's important to get one that's decent calorie/carb wise without sacrificing the protein content. For instance, I'd rather drink one that is 160 calories and 30g of protein than one that is 120 calories and only 18g of protein. I can choke down most anything but I swear, some shakes taste like they aren't meant for human consumption. I also have an IRON stomach. I can eat takeout left out overnight and never miss a beat but some protein shakes just don't settle right -- and that's a big deal coming from me (Isopure, for me, was the worst).

My favorite is Pure Protein -- yes, the one at wal-mart. It's cheap, has the right matrix of ingredients, and tastes good. They also have a natural whey option but, just a warning, it's not too tasty (I still drink it though).

A big thing to remember is it is not so much about what brand of protein (even though I only buy Gold Standard) but when you consume it and what kind of protein you are consuming. An hour before your work out you will want to take the whey but immediately after the workout you want to consume a slow digesting protein and some complex carbs along with a very alkaline food such as watermelon. Do not wait longer than 30 minutes after the workout to get nutrition back into your system otherwise your body will go looking for it else where and that usually means pulling it out of its existing sources internally. It may seem complicated but if you have some fruit, a greek yogurt, and some triscuits for example you will be good to go! The goal is to reduce that you just pumped into your body and replenish what you lost working out. You don't have to have a big meal but do not wait long after the workout to replace the nutrients!!

If you go to bodybuilding.com they have a huge selection of proteins and will give you a lot of comparison charts on nutrition and price!

We just had a vendor bring in some samples for a post workout ice cream! It's called Thrive, the chocolate is so good. 9grams Milk Protein, Gluten free, loaded with vitamins and minerals, potassium, probiotics, and fiber. I know this is nothing of what you were asking but thought I would put it out there. Took some home with me. We'll see how it goes with them

I have used Whey isolate before to mix in smoothies and I think its a good way to add protein :)

ALSO

for weight loss help I love garden of life Raw Fit (not whey) I like it beacuse I can do it for breakfast +  eat 1 applegate naturals turkey sausage (really good!) - http://www.amazon.com/Garden-Life-Protein-Nutritional-Supplement/dp/B00CLD74U8/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

I mix with unsweetened almond/coconut milk and I think it tastes pretty good (probably not good with water) I could see how some might not like it, its a little chalky but I do :) I let it sit a while before I drink it to help dissolve.

Its raw, vegan, organic soy and dairy free, and I have a huge appetite and I think it does help fight cravings.

It has probiotics and enzymes, natural stuff for stress control and weight control and also helps regulate blood suger

We all know eating too much put the weight on ... over a period of time ..

For some reason no one agrees to eating half or less than you have been to lose the weight ..... FOR FREE!!
lol

All diets boil down to two simple things ...
EAT LEAN AND GREEN ...

GOOD LUCK ...

Dr. Oz has a  2 week quick weight lose diet on his website and he recommends rice protein powder.  Don't really know the difference.
