Can a scammer do anything once they have your email address?
My sister in law is trying to sell some puppies and lady texted her last night and so this morning she had me e-mail the pictures
(they're on my phone
) to the lady because my SIL cannot do picture messages
(she needs to get with the times ASAP. I'm not her broker
). So the lady e-mails me back and says she's hearing impaired and cannot talk on the phone, but has some outrageous requests for a money order and what not. I'm not going to respond back, but can she/he do anything with my e-mail?

We have had them hack the email account. Once a customer of the bank, who usually would send wire requests by email, was hacked. The scammer sent me the wire request but had modified the account numbers to have the money sent to the scammers account. We would never process the request until we talk to the customer by phone. We eventually found out what had happened and the customer had to change his entire companys email platform. So, it only matters if there is sensitive information within the email account.

Ugghh. Thank you for the response.
It is my personal one, but I use it for work as well. I have changed the password, but I'm not sure if that really helps much.

I have had a few scamers trying to scam me over saddles that I had up for sell, I just never responed to them and never had a problem that I know of.
Maybe she could be telling the truth about being hearing imparied, so if you do hear back from her tell her to have a friend call your friend about the puppies.

RE: OT- Scammers and e-mail
Someone hacked my email about 1 year ago--i don't know how. The only way I found out was that about 1:30 pm for several days in a row I got lots of undeliverable email notifications. It was hacked and being used for mass emailing and never showed up where I could see it. Changed my password and it's been find since
(I hope
).
