Just wondering what brands you use and you're experience with them.

I have a couple Zareba's.  I think that's how how you spell it. I have one at home in case I set up an extra pen and I have 1 that I leave in my trailer that gets bounced around and hauled everywhere.  IMO they hold up great plus they are big enough they pack a punch.  Don't ask me how I know that.

Bahhahaha! The place I bought has the wire set up but they took the box and they're starting to ruin the wire so I figured I'd let them learn now! I was looking at those but they had mixed reviews (reading reviews sucks BTW!!)

Thank you!

I had a Gallagher for my 4 acre fence. It works well for the first few months, but then the battery wasn't holding enough juice to keep them from reaching over the fence. Fought with it for a bit and decided to just go get one that plugs in. Definitely keeps them from reaching over with that one. IMO, I would only use the solar for non permanent fencing, like portables.

Had several thru the years. They are handy and work pretty darn good.

We have 4 Gallaghers. Probably bought the first one 6 years ago. They respect the fence.

We use gallager fencers on the big pastures, I keep a portable one in my trailer called a "trail". It runs on d cell batteries and is really handy!

The Zebra ones work well. When they blow a fuse, hard to replace. It is soldered in place.

Are you guys using wire or the ribbon? I use the thick ribbon and have yet to find one that works well. Any input appreciated!

I have a Gallagher (or however you spell it) that I've had for something like 8 years now.  I've had to replace the battery a couple of times just due to the deep cold of the north but other then that it's been awesome.  I get a deep cycle battery which seems to last longer then a regular battery.  They definately respect the fence so it's all good for me.

For on the road I use ribbon.  Make sure your getting a good connection.  I bought a connector that has a flat piece that clamps the ribbon in to make a good connection. http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/zarebareg%3B-polytape-to-energizer-connector

Ditto to the Gallagher. We have three of them and one is about ten years old, we finally replaced the board in it last year which costs about half of what a new charger would have.  Usually have to replace the battery about every three years and we do that in the fall so we have a fresh battery going in to our rainy season.

Have had a Zareba and some other brand but they quit pretty quick and weren't much cheaper that the Gallaghers.

I ended up getting an electrical one. I have the tape. I got a 25 mile 1 joule one, the brand is Zareba. It packs a bunch and really seems to work well. It was less than $100 at tractor supply. It was like $20 more than the 15 mile one, had an extra year on the warranty, and had the whole joule, unlike the 15 mile one.
