Location: North Louisiana | I adopted a yearling. He is a little thin and small. I am hoping to get him to grow on out. please somebody give me some miracle stories and hope! got him on Omelene 300 and grass turnout. has been wormed. Twice, two days ago and three weeks ago. I want to powerpack him, but feel I need to let him eat alittle more first. any suggestions would be appreciated. |

| I've had two punky yearlings (not really skinny, just small and funny looking) that grew into gorgeous adults. And my big mare (in her previous owners words) went to the track as shrimp salad and came home as the green giant! She's now 16 h.
I'd get your guy a little more settled in before power packing. Maybe have a fecal sample run first to see if he is overrun by one kind that doesn't require quite so much poison at once. I usually don't power pack until my guys are way long yearlings (their second January). |

Location: North Dakota | some sort of junior feed, I prefer woodys futurity blend, read the bag, weigh the feed and feed accordingly. I also like to throw a flake of alfalfa daily too. I do a modified power pak. Two doses about 10 days apart. |

Just throw in a block of alfalfa daily while stalled up before turning out along with what you are feeding and don't over do it ... until he gains weight and shows some bloom he is not going to grow in height .... a handful of ADM GroStrong minerals is a super mineral/vitamin/CA/Phos supplement to use as the only supplement needed ..
If your baby has an extra long tail and mane hair ... he has less than 50% chance of overcoming being stunted as a youngster ..... regardless what you do or what his genes indicate ...

| adm junior glo and healthy glo 3 pounds of junior and 1 pound of healthy glo twice a day. start of with 4 pounds of junior and work up to 6 pounds a day, but stay with the 2 pounds of healthy glo. stand back and watch the change |

My gelding that is almost 16.1 hands was 14.2 as a two year old, i fed him what i thought he should have, this is before fat suppliments where popular, so i fed him what i thought was proper amount of grain and a wheel barrow full od round bale hay and 3pads of,hay it would all be gone by am. More i fed him the more her grew. |

This! Too many people worry about packing in the nutrition so quickly and this can lead to problems such as OCD. Don't over do it. When I got my yearling he was a bit on the malnourished side and and I had him on a 10% ration, 1 flake of alfalfa a day and then unlimited access to a good quality native grass roundbale. The alfalfa really helps them bloom but again, don't over do it! |

| I am working with a 2 year old now who was stalled for the first 18 months with very little nutrition and he is growing up fine. Don't try to pack it on fast, give him a nice complete grain and good quality hay and let him out to gain muscle. That's what we did, and we added a vitamin supplement last month once he had filled out and was healthier and he is growing like a weed, filled out in about 2 months and grew up from there. He was only 11 hands when his owner got him in November and now he's already up to 14.1. And he turns 2 on may 12th. |

Location: North Louisiana | thanks everyone! Feeding him Omelene 300 and Manna Pro for horses. On good grass turnout. Had him in stall for two days but put him out with my 12 year old gelding. He really got happy and so did my gelding. Happy horse is a healthy horse. He has been playing good and running it made my heart sing! |
