TurnLane - 2014-04-18 11:07 AM Those who say you have to have them redone in a life time are mis informed. Its like saying you will have to have a new engine put in your car, not the case if you take care of it, make sense?

I had mine done in 2000 so it was obviously cheaper then. That was when silicone was a big no no but I think they are back and I recommend them. I was  tall and thin (so I understand how you feel) and my surgeon recommended a C to look natural. I wish I had gone D but that is my only hindsight- other than I wish I had done them when I was 18 or 20.

I will say that tearing your sternum muscles away from your chest is likely the most painful thing I have yet encountered.

This is just for my own personal knowledge file, but... how do you "take care of them" or not, I suppose?

I guess I should say pending no abuse or injury- they are meant to last but things happen.  But Im sure my husband or yours would run with my previous statement- lol!

Herbie - 2014-04-18 11:13 AM I SO wish I could give you any, or all of what I have.  I'm a 34 DDD, all natur-al and I hate it.  I would give anything to be an A or B cup just so I could get a button up shirt to fit and didn't have the HUGE bounce when I ride.  My shoulders are killing me.  I'm not overweight at all, and even when I have been heavier and lost weight, unfortunately my boobs never changed.  :(

I can completely understand why you would want to do this and why others have chosen to do it, but I would surely like to go the opposite direction.

I have a friend that is saving up for a reduction. Hers is causing her back pain, and I know she is miserable.

I would love to and have read up on the procedure, but have a couple of friends who have done it and the results haven't been permanent for them and the recovery is really long from what I understand.

I heard that they have to remove the nipple and then reattach it after they remove tissue. Lots of time off after that

Ok. I have had a reduction and I will tell you it was THE BEST thing I have ever done. I was a 34 H after my two children. They did the key hole surgery where they do detach and reattach the nipple. The smallest she could make me and look natural was a D. They removed 4 lbs!!! When I woke up it was like someone had lifted a huge rock off of my chest. I was riding again in 4 weeks. I recommend the surgery to every large chested woman. It has made such a huge. Difference in my life. The worst part of the surgery was recovering bc I was stir crazy and wanted to go do things bc I felt so fantastic. Since I had the more invasive procedure I do have scaring. But it's not that bad and I would do it all over again in a heart beat. Seriously if you have back pain neck pain huge dents in your shoulders from bras. Look into reductions. It would change your life. Also insurance might cover it. Mine did!

My mom had a mastectomy with reconstruction 20 years ago and hers haven't needed repaired yet.  I'm a 32DD after nursing 2 babies, which sounds kinda big but doesn't look it...I was a freakin jersey cow when nursing and they lost their perk after.  I thought about having them fixed, but with my cancer risk, decided against it.  If I get a new set, it will be because insurance paid for it.

Hahaha! I'm with you...I USED to be part of the IBTC, but I prayed and prayed to God for bigger boobs because veryone used to make fun of me. God was a bit too generous, as I went from an A cup to a 38 DD, and he gave me the butt and the gut to go with it as I went from a size 5 to a size 22. Now I am back to a size 9...but my boobs are still a D cup. Really annoying as they get in the way of ANYTHING even remotely athletic. So I agree...I would love to give some of y'all my extra and go back to a perky B cup.

I want to get mine done once I'm done nursing baby #2. Not necessarily any implants, but definitely want at least a lift.

I currently wear a 32DDD which is NOT as big as it sounds. It is the same CUP size as a 36 B, but because I need the smaller band, I have to have the horrendously large SOUNDING cup size.

Anywho - when they are full of milk, they are nice little boobies...
When they are empty... They look like somebody threw some M&Ms into a couple of worn out socks and hung them from my chest. :(

Good luck with your girls! If you get them done, make sure to post about your experience!!

I'm slightly jealous after tonight. Went for a run and only put one sports bra on. Not making that mistake anytime soon again. I'm a 36DD. Most people don't think I have that big of boobs because they are proportional to my body (5'10'', 140 lbs) until they actually look at the tag on my bra.

I want to get mine done and have done quite a bit of research. Some drs will give you a discount. For example, the new surgeon at the hospital is giving the female workers a discount as a form of advertising. Since he's new to the hospital, this gets his name out. I'm sure that would work very similarly with a model.
Look at several different drs websites and look at the pictures.  Some docs lean more toward silicone and some more toward saline, some like under the muscle and some like over. Are you broad shouldered or more narrow? Each of these will give you a different look and feel.
All of them have their pros and their cons, if you work out hard though, I'd lean toward on top of the muscle. You'll be back to the gym in less than 2 weeks.

I'm a guy. Sorry I didn't follow the directions. My wife had breast augmentation surgery. It was extremely hard on our marriage. In 21 years of marriage, it was literally the only problem we ever had. I wouldn't say we have worked thru it yet either, and it's been 18 months ago. I'm sure people will say that it's insecurity on "my" behalf. That's not the problem at all. I just don't don't like the new ones. They creep me out. I apologize to all the ladies who have had it done, and hope that both you, and the men in your life are happy with them. They are just not for me. I actually feel quit bad about how I feel. A big part of our problem, was not discussing the surgery enough, before she had it. I figured it was her body, and in time I'd either get used to it, or learn to like it, but I didn't.

I have not had an augmentation but my mother did about 10 years ago now. I will warn you to get them smaller than what the doctor will recommend. Her and a friend of mine ended up having a reduction last year because they were just too darn big. I have considered getting it done as well. I was always a very full C and at 5'1 and 105 pounds I felt pretty good about myself lol. However, after having 2 babies and expanding to a DD after giving birth and then breastfeeding each one for 2 years they have deflated haha! I am now barely a B cup and sometimes it makes me sad how "empty" they are. You're not alone, but I don't know if I want something foreign in my body permanently for simple vanity. Good luck with your decision.

I had the same problem you're dealing with. I'm no fitness model. But went from a D down to small B after working out heavily.
- I don't ever regret having it done. (Well maybe when I'm doing sprints. Lol :-)
- cost $5500
- found my surgeon since my friend had him. But I did meet with 3 other doctors that were highly recommended through Yelp in the area. Just to double check I was going to be happy with my dr. Choice.
- not painful (but I do have a very high pain tolerance) I was back to work 4 days after surgery.
- everyone says go bigger than you think you want. I didn't believe them so went with what I thought. Yep , wish I'd gone a little bigger.

- oh and my husband has No issues with them. He was with me before I had them and After. He was also with me through my whole weightless (boob loss) in the beginning.

I think that's everything. But PM me if you have any other questions.

Just had mine done Friday morning. Pain is manageable with Tylenol for me. Cost $5300. Was referred to my doctor by a friend.
I was barely a B after having two kids. Doc says I should be a full C, almost D at VS, I had 350cc saline implants, sub-muscular. I go in for post op appt today but so far I am tickled. I was able to drive the next morning. I lack upper body strength now, first day was hard to open any child proof medicine bottles lol
I have never been happy with my ta-tas, so I was more then happy to go in when my husband suggested it. There is a previous post about putting M&M's in a sock, a couple friends and I explain it as 1/2 filled sandwich bags with water hanging there.
They have changed the silicone ones now where they dont "leak" if they rupture the gel stays with the implant and causes the breast to look atrophied over time, like years, where a saline you'll end up with a flat by the end of the day. Doc also said they all come with 10 year warranty. Saline are cheaper then silicone and cheaper to replace.

After working in the OR and seeing several breast reductions OMG I couldn't imagine the pain during healing.

However I would think that between (5-8) thousand is your average and I would definitely go on to a plastic surgeons website to look at before and after pictures that describe the type of augmentation they preformed to get a good idea of what you want .
