Other than insurance on the horse, what all do you require when lending/leasing a horse out?
This young lady is an extremely good hand, her open horse is on stall rest and she has some big shows coming up.
I have an extremely talented young mare here that has been hauled lightly due to my own illness. I know my mare will be in good hands, I just want to see what you have required when lending a horse out.
Thank you in advance.

Solid contract signed by both parties in my hand before my horse leaves the property :

Would any of you mind sharing your contract or the high points? I have people interested in borrowing one of my older breakaway horses for their high school kids. I have no idea how to even start. You can PM me if you would like.

Just "google" for Equine Leases and you will come up with many examples (most written by Lawyers). All you have to do it cross through and initial the "monetary" part if it is a free lease......they cover all of the care, feed, vet, etc and what is required by the person using the horse for standard care and in case of accident, etc.

In a lease I did, I not only had insurance but specified the vet to be used/consulted and the trainer. The horse could not be placed with any trainer other than the one specified. (Yes -- control freak.)
