Just wanted to here what everyones favorite saddle pads are.. ive got a pretty long backed gelding (16.1+hh) but when i just bought him he was under weight but everyone says they only way to get weight and muscle on the top is to ride. so what kind of saddle pad would yall recommend?? his back looks so poor, and i feel like im hurting him. he is sometimes sore on his back and top of his butt sometimes. what should i do?? i like a zoon wool top and senior flex by classic equine type pads.

Location: Opelousas, LA		I have an old gelding that has lost his topline due to cushings but the excercise really helps so my son rides him with a CSI pad.  They give way more support than any other pad and the flex plates keep the weight off his withers and spine.  They are expensive so I always try to buy used.

I have also used the Classic Equine ESP contour pads, they have a nice channel down the middle that keeps pressure off the spine.  I will try top post a picture of the underside of mine. The only drawback to these pads is if you are in the saddle for several hours at a time, the edges of the fleece will rub the hair off your horse at the back and where the cinch runs over it.

I never thought my gelding 16.1 would have a great topline without feeding him a ton of grain. One day i grabed a bag of cool caleries started him on that no time at all he looked good dont have to,feed much either. I feed a low,starch.
