40-60 mile an hour wind this weekend and a fire started in the Gila NF close to town. This morning no wind and a thick cloud of smoke hanging over everything. The building I work in smells like a camfire is burning in the center of it. No rain in sight and this is just the beginning of another BAD fire season looks like. I would wish for wind (gasp) to clear the smoke, but I don't want the firefighters to have a worse time of it. Praying for rain, lots of it!

I hope it fizzles out quickly.  My cousin is on a Firefighting team in AZ, but I know she goes all over.  IDK if she'd be in on this one or not, probably if it gets bigger.  I know her last post was that she was on a Heli-crew somewhere.

My cousin just posted that she's on her way to Gila.  Prayers for her and all involved in fighting this fire!

It is only 3 miles for Pinos Altos but the winds are light right now, hopefully will stay light long enough for them to get a handle on it.  Lots of homes, history and livliehoods on the line. Prayers for all the firefighters and people in harms way.

Sending prayers to all. Winds really cause problems. We don't need a repeat of the Yarnell fire.

I saw helicopters headed your way yesterday. Just pray we don't get a fire over here so all the assets can stay with you.

Winds are still light, lots of air traffic. The fire has crested the mountains on this side, have heard it has grown to 5000 acres, but just a rumor, no confirmation . Looks like they are getting a handle on it from the cheap seats, but could change in a heartbeat.
