I'm bored this morning.  Wasn't planning on taking the day off work but just didn't feel like going :)  (I work for myself).....

Anyways, this isn't a great run and he had trouble with the deep ground....

But just a simple yes or no will work here

Does it look like his hocks could be sore?  He is getting vetted either way becaus I think they could be, and even if they are not, then he will be just getting a check up :)

I think all four legs were giving him trouble in this dirt.  I just can't tell if it was just the ground or what.....

Tequila does not like deep ground. He seemed to be short stepping on the right leg

me too......I can tell you he feels like a million dollars riding/warming up.  But I haven't been on him since this run.  Either way, I'll let my vet help me decide....it's just going to bug the hell out of me.

I can't tell you either but one thing I have learned is to look up before looking at hocks.  That has been the case for all 4 horses I currently have on the property and thank God I have a great vet that doesn't look to inject hocks first.

when my grey's hocks are sore, she'll start resting them more often and being naughty when you pick up her back feet. She does that before anything changes in her performance. Has he done any of that?

Funny you say that - I've had the complete opposite experience with my gray horse. Probably 85-90 percent of people who watched his latest video on here said hocks or stifles and it is all in his feet.

OP - The video looked like he just couldn't get ahold to push off and leave the barrels, which could be ground or so many actual lameness problems. That said, a lameness exam is your best bet and you'll probably just have to be bothered by it until a vet takes a look.

Nope.  He's 100 percent....I just didn't like his run and I guess instead of chalking it up to the dirt I'm looking for something else....because I worry too much.

He ran 2nd in the 1d today so I'm not quite as worried and can feel better about chalking it up to the dirt last weekend.  A 15.336 won and he was a 15.340.  And I was doing tricks :)  I'm still going to get him evaluated the first week of June but more to ease my mind then anything.

Good deal!!

I recently found out my mare has a hock issue...you know the big scar over it should have been an indicator but I guess I didn't look that close. She's won a barrel race recently as well, so I'm going to just baby that leg and keep an eye on it/inject as needed. Could be worse issues I guess!

At this point I honestly don't think his hocks are causing pain, but he runs so dang hard that I think getting him evaluated on a regular basis is a good idea.  I'd much rather catch soreness early before it gets bad.  But then I'm a HUGE worry wart.  I always feel like I'm not doing enough for my horses.  Like there's always a little more I could do.  I even hate leaving a saddle on one too long and try to take it off between rides.  Here is his video from yesterday.....excuse the poor riding skills.....I slacked off for some reason this year and it's a mental game for me to get back to riding right.  And I will admit, that when they start clocking like he is, it gets a lil harder to ride just right.....you have to think fast :)

I watched it on Facebook <3 <3. And I agree, it's always best to have a baseline. I have mine looked over by my vets on a regular basis. Even then stuff goes under the radar sometimes…but I am on top of a lot as well!

And I agree, he looks good to me!
