So my daughter is turning three in a few days and we have really tried everything we can think of to potty train her. I know that they all learn at different times but she is really curious in the potty and likes to sit and pretend to wipe but never does anything. We have tried letting her run around the house with no diaper but she never tells us when she needs to go till she has already gone...... thankfully we have wood floors and if she has to go #2 she will cry till we put a diaper on her or she will put one on her self. So what I really need is some advise and encouragement on potty training her. Thank you in advance

Instead of naked put panties on her. The icky feeling when she pees herself will encourage her to start thinking about it before she lets loose. Other than that, encourage and praise and she will train when she's ready. My son didn't train until after his 3rd birthday.

My daughter was 3 and a half before she finally became potty trained. It's really frustrating and I was shocked that it would be that difficult. She is very smart but strong willed. I started out when she was 2 by letting her get a small prize every time she used the toilet. After a week she was having no accidents. This went on for 4 months. I started to give a prize a day and then cut down to nothing. She started asking what do I get and then began to pee her pants again. It was very aggravating to not have an accident in months then regress to not using the toilet at all. We tried everything. She didn't care if she peed in normal panties and the feel of wetness didn't bother her. Finally one day it was her idea and not an accident since. No advise... Just be patient!

Ive found you really have to watch them really close. And have a little potty in the same room as you. As soon as they start to pee rush to the toilet and really prais them. Some times it takes a bit to connect the new to pee to run to toilet.

As for the poop, my middle daughter would cry and cry and cry and would rather make her self sick from not pooping than just go in the toilet. Then one day she just went and that was that. Just stick with it is all I can say, I really dont know what changed she Must of just figured out I was not giving her a dipper I guess lol.

She does sound ready, just stick with it and even if she has an accident sit on the potty and make it fun so she connects the dots so to say.

I went against all the "book advice" and gave my son treats. I put him on the potty every 30 minutes. He sat for a min then got a smartie. If he did anything he got two smarties and a potty dance. He loved it. If he pooped he got three smarties.

We got some flack for doing it this way by friends who asked but our son was potty trained by a year and a half and only wore pull ups at night. He's was motivated by the rewards and by the end of the day he was asking to sit on the potty. Day two he only got a potty dance every 30 mins and a treat only if he did something. By day three he only got treats for poop. After that he was totally potty trained and he stopped getting treats just high fives and praise.

This is what worked for our son and hopefully you find what works for you.

Good luck.

My daughter was trained in 3 days, using the 3 day method.  She went bottomless.  She drank lots of fluids.  Whatever room we were in, we had a potty in.  I used suckers and my daughter would ask for a sucker.  I told her she only gets suckers when she used the potty.  She would sit on the potty and watch a whole Dora movie and would eventually go.  She would be so excited.  We all would cheer and she'd get her sucker.  Eventually it just clicks.  She is now 3 1/2 and has been staying dry overnight for about 2 months.  She will even get up in the middle of the night to go if she has to.  The 3 day method works but you HAVE to stick to it for 3 days straight...

Dealing with a 3 year old boy I feel your pain. Every other child his age has been potty trained for awhile. My sister in law has three boys and told me not to worry every child does when they ready. BUUUT when My little boy told me you can just change me and its easier this way. Oh heck no smartie britches! He knows he needs to go!
Best advice has been start taking things away. So he earns T.V privileges by going in the potty which has just been pee but gotta start somewhere!!
