Location: Wonderful Wyoming | What are her allergy symptoms? I have had one with a cough when it gets dry, he did great when I added cough & breather to his Muscle Mass. Stopped his cough completely and let me tell you, it wasn't because it rained. It was 2yrs ago and we had a nasty drought and of course the wind blows a lot around here.

My horse with allergies I had based off of her CBC and Chemistry Panel. It's great because you can always alter depending on the times of year. And it is a complete supplement. I'm a happy THE customer.
Are you giving your horse allergy shots? Would the allergy test results still play a factor in how THE was formulated since the horse is actually getting them in their shots now? It all makes my head spin but I dont have her on anything at the moment and am exploring my options which seem to be limited! No my horse is not on allergy shots and has never gotten any. The allergy test is only good for THE to show you what your horse is allergic to anything that it eats. Because they use natural ingredients like flax seed, soy, etc.. if your horse it allergic then they won't put it in. My horse has environmental allergies. So the formula worked fantastic. I did have to have him add more allergy stuff to it for the second bag because it didn't clear it up completely but they gave it to me for free. Nice to work with a company that stands behind their product. I felt bad because he felt bad it didn't fix my horse 100% the first time. But the second formula did. Now my horse has no hives, or wierd swelling and oozing. I get her blood pulled and tested every 3 months and I can see how much is has changed for the good. I'm so impressed with his formula. It didn't just fix her allergies, but also no more inflammation, anemia, or electrolyte problem. sorry for the novel
Is this different from the regular blood panel a vet pulls? Interesting. I have never had it done, but something great to keep in mind for future horses. |

We had a super dry fall and she would cough randomly and almost sounded phlemy at times when she would breath. I had her looked at by 3 different vets before we decided to actually do an allergy test. They all chalked it up to allergies and gave me ventipulmin but I just wasnt convinced that was it. The 2nd vet I had her teeth done and when she was sedated and had her head hanging she had some mucas discharge that freaked me out. We did a blood panel and all was normal. The last vet scoped her to make sure she wasnt bleeding, she didnt bounce back after a run like she normally did, and didnt clock anymore. Turns out she also had pharyangitis. Treated for that while I waited for her allergy test results. Red = bad, and her's was pretty much all red. Lucky me! Good news though she isnt allergic to barn dust or bugs!
The vet pulls blood and sends it to a lab for testing, then if you choose to move forward with the shots, they make them based off the results of the test. |

Ok awesome thank you for explaining that, she is allergic to a lot of stuff so I'd have to send her results to them it sounds like. |

I am not sure what a vet normally pulls when you ask them to pull blood. I was told to ask for a CBC and Chemistry Panel. That is what I have done ever since. I think most just do the CBC and not the Chemistry. The Chemistry is for electrolyte issues and I don't think vets tend to worry about that too much. But it is really important and is often over looked. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | Thank you both for answering. When I lost the stud last spring, they must have done the chemistry for it as they said his electrolytes were good, but hid kidneys were shot.
I do worry about allergies here because we are so dry, and not sure if it matters but my horses are generally out in pasture so exposed to whatever happens to be growing that year. If it rains we have all kinds of weeds (that just about kill my husband and my dad) and if it is dry, then the dust blows constantly. |

countrygirl2006 - 2014-05-20 11:52 AM I have been very happy withย Platinum in the past for an overall supplement, but my mare won't it it now.
I willย mention since you said your mare has allergies as mine does too, I was referred to Horseย Hair Analysis. I've heard several good things about this company, andย am waiting to hear the analysis on my horse. They recommend a custom supplement based on what they find, so I think I will give that a shot. I believe I read in an interview in BHN that it was Jordan Peterson who also uses this company. May be worth looking into, and I'll be happy to share my experience in a few weeks.
The problem with that is it is a win/win for the company. I know this was discussed on here before. Some believe in it and some don't. If it is an honest deal GREAT, otherwise any company similar can tell you what is wrong and then sell you something. I think it is like the computer cleaning programs. They scan your computer for free, tell you what all is wrong with it and for just $49.95 they will clean up all these terrible, malware etc. I take it to a professional and he says there isn't a thing wrong. Just becareful what you get talked in to.ย
I always do the Saliva Testing when I have an issue with my horse. I've had great luck with it! |

Which one do you use? Is it specifically for allergies or just a general supplement? |

| Platinum. After watching my horses go from hard keepers to fat this winter, I will not feed anything else. I know several of us on here that have had fabulous results with these products. Platinum also guarantees their products' make up. I'd call and speak with their reps about what they'd recommend for allergies too. |

Is it specifically for allergies or just a general supplement? It is muscle mass as the based (can be performance if you want) but the rest of it is based off of her unique blood work. Then I tell them that I would also like it to include stuff for her joints, ulcer prevent and that she has allergies. So it truely is customized just for my horse but I still have the ability to have it address what I want it to. Very affordable. You send in a brief history of your horse, like what problems you want addressed, what medication (if any) they are currently on, what medication or stuff you have tried to solve the issue, what you feed them, age, etc...
