Location: Flo-rida | riding my 5 yr old mare saturday night. had already run poles/texas - barrel run started out ok, but fell apart at the second barrel. I am trying to figure out if she stepped wrong and possibly rolled back or twisted her ankle and thats what made her step off or if the prob was there before the turn (like hock fusing or something). you will notice when I take her back around the second time, that she skips/never makes ground contact with the left rear. I tried to work her last night, mostly slow speed (trot/slow lope) but about the third time thru, she started crow hopping behind the second. I am giving her a couple days rest and some pain meds and going to try to work her again friday. any advice would be helpful. I have this mare signed up for state next month and really wanted to take her...

| Something definitely looks off back there. I saw what you mean by her holding it up the second time around. She also doesn't look like she wants to keep that left lead in the back either. I would definitely get her checked out by a vet  |

Location: Memphis, TN | Looks like she was cross firing coming across from first to second and never engaged her left hind. Even when you took her around again she didn't put her left hind up under her. My guess is it's her left stifle giving her issues. |

Location: Oklahoma | It looked to me like she didn't change her hind lead. When she got to the back side of the barrel she panicked. She was on the correct lead going to the third and it was pretty. If you can watch it slower I think you'd see better what her back end did or didn't do. |

Location: Flo-rida | am going to email the video to the vet and see what he thinks. she is young and I have just started asking her for speed so I know she is still unsure about alot of stuff. I know I am still learning what to watch for too, but I do think something is wrong when she is holding up the left hind in the turn. |

| I would say she is really sore on the left hind, she would not switch the hind end going to second, when she is forced to turn, that foot barely touches the ground and it is only the toe. She is only toeing it on third as well.
I edited it to sore on left hind

eta: She looks nice. I would do whatever you need to, to get her 100% sound. Stifles or hocks will just take an injection and 3-5 days off riding, chiropractic work and a good joint supplement and you will be good to go
