Location: Southeast, Texas | I tried my mare in a few different treeless saddles Saturday night. I didn't run her in any of them, she came out of our open run super sore in her back. I've known my saddle doesn't fit her great, but I wanted to see the treeless saddles on her. I tried the JBN, it sat me good but didn't seem to fit her great. It still seemed to put a good bit of pressure on her under the cantle and didn't sit flat on her back at the loins. (If that makes sense.) Maybe she needs a wide? Then I tried a BM, loved the way it looked on her, and there was no uneven pressure. It sat her well. Also looked at the TF, but was unable to try it. She was just too sore to keep trying anything. My question is.. How does the seat sizing run? I ride a 14.5 now, but the JBN was a 14.5 and much too small. The lady that had the BM did not know her seat size but it fit me great. Did you treeless users have to go up a seat size? |

Location: Broxton, Ga | my best guess is you would at least need a 15.5..... Here is a link to help you determine you size as well as measure one if trying and they don't know the size...........

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | Treeless are measured differently because they're supposed to fit differently, snugger. I usually ride a 13.5-14 treed saddle and a 14 treeless fits me well on most horses (some back shapes will shrink the seat). |

That calculater doesn't work. According to that, I need a 15.5. LOL I am not fat!!!! And that would leave me swimming. |

Location: God's country...aka TEXAS | I ride a 13.5-14 in regular saddles and the same in treeless. So I guess you just have to try them all. I would also make sure it isn't something other than just the saddle that is making her back THAT sore. |

Location: Southeast, Texas | She has been x-rayed, normal. Has regular chiro work. We have checked for leg or hoof problems that could cause her to over compensate and get sore in the back. X-rays of stifles, hocks, fetlocks, and feet. Nothing shows. I would willingly accept advice on what else I could have done to check her out though! I know for a fact my saddle sits her wrong. It's tight on her shoulders and withers, and sits directly on her spine in the back. Tried several pads, none relieve the pressure points. She comes out sore on her withers, and through her loins after workouts. She worked Good Friday night, beautiful pattern in her cruise through. She got a liniment rub down after a good bath. She was slightly sore, nothing bad. Saturday morning she wasn't sore to pressure tests so we decided to haul. Exhibitioned once, she was tossing her head through the run. Her open run she didn't want to turn first and didn't fire at all coming out of her barrels. She was very sore in her withers and her loins afterward.
Thank you for the sizing link, I didn't know they had that. I ride comfortable in my 14.5 treed saddle, but the 14.5 JBN was too small. The BM was a 15-15.5 she wasn't sure. I didn't feel like I was swimming in it at all, it felt good. I just want to make sure I end up with the right size. |

I use it as a guide....and the saddle size is based on thigh size......kinda at least gives one an idea........I think it up to the person.......if they like the sung fit....like jeans......I to ride in a 13.5 treed..........have had 2 14" treeless........my last was is 14.5.........my new one on order is 14.5.......I'm 5'2" 117....... |

Did you click on how to measure........have your friend measure her saddle or call BM with serial number and they can tell you the size........typically the size is stamped on the saddle.
