My Dodge is a 2001, but I have had good luck w/it.  (Only time I had any issues was when the lift pump went out & something else that went hand in hand w/that).  I have friends w/the Duramaxes & they have loved them.  I personally will NEVER buy another Ford since I bought a new one - 1T 4x4 crew cab diesel - & it was a lemon & Ford Motor company would do NOTHING to help me.  It went through 5 transmissions before 50,000 miles - first one before I ever towed with it.  Luckily I lived in the Phoenix area so I had a lot of Ford dealers to take it to when each one went out because once a dealership worked on it/put in a new tranny, they would not TOUCH it again - would give me all kinds of run around & I would have to go to a different dealership.  (One of them kept refusing to even do anything, even after the service mgr & I went for a test drive & he didn't get one block down the road - told me it was shot & needed to be replaced AND that he had 2 others, same year, same problems - in the shop right then.  Surprisingly (LOL) I was never able to talk to that mgr again - he was always "gone or busy".  So I told them I was making a haul from Phoenix area to the Tetons in WY & then to MI & that my brother had all the copies of all the work done w/this truck, so if I crashed & burned on this trip due to the POS truck & it's issues, there WOULD be a lawsuit.  SURPRISE!!!  They got it in & "fixed" it (until it started problems again).

I have ford, dodge and chevy - I keep buying the chevy because I really like the Allison transmission for the big trailers. We really should be using a freightliner for how much we pull and how far every year but cannot afford one. The Allison is amazing LOVE IT

CYA Ranch - 2014-06-01 10:56 AM Freightliner if you want a truck.  Chevy if you want a pickup.

Hehe.  I was going to say if you want a truck - Kenworth, Freightliner, or Peterbuilt.  But a pickup - Chevy/GMC Duramax with the Allison transmission, Ford with the 7.3L Power Stroke (stay AWAY from the 6.0L) - these two if you want a comfortable ride, decent mileage, and overall nice pickup.  If you want a workhorse but don't care about the road noise and rougher ride - get a Dodge with the Cummins.  NOT trying to offend anyone, this is my two cents worth here.  :

Fancy Lass - 2014-06-02 7:35 AM Keep them coming on the 2010 dodge 3500 automatic :) there is one we may check out .. So far the reviews seem good . I just want a reliable truck !!

I think the newer Dodges with auto trannys are a little better than they used to be but if I was ever going to actually buy a dodge it would have a manual transmission - especially with the Cummins engine.  Again - my 2 cents.

I am married to a heavy duty diesel mechanic. As far as a big truck goes, Peterbilt is the only thing he will look at. We have a 2005 Chevy 3500 with the LLY and it has 225,000 miles on it and the only modification we did was delete the EGR system. It's been a great truck. From a mechanic point of view, his dealership services Fords and the mechanics are saying that the new 6.7 liter F250s and up are great trucks. In fact they're complaining that they're not getting enough work to fix them...

CYA - I live in farm country and my grandparents lived in farm country when I was growing up.  We didn't dare call a pickup a truck.  LOL.  :
