| Liquid injectable Bute is extremely dangerous! If outside the vein it will destroy and abcess soft tissue. Much worse than ban amine in the muscle. I would not give it orally. |

No waiting necessary. You just pay more for the "flavoring" Tried that. I bought 3 tubes to use and all 3 of them were so hard in the tube that I literally cannot squeeze it out. I have to use both hands to push and even then it really doesn't come out. Didn't work at ALL. I asked around after that and everyone said it is because of the brand and that's all we can get up here. NO, NO, I don't mean the paste I mean the liquid injectable, what you would use for IV. I almost always go IV but if I have a touchy horse for injections I will give it orally. Sorry, my post sounded confusing.
Oh, I see. I misunderstood you.
Ehhhhhh, I don't think I trust myself to do an IV medication. Way too risky. I'd rather figure out something with the feed-through. |

You can squirt the liquid IV bute into their mouth as well:) You don't have to give it IV. Works quicker IV, but it will work in the mouth as well...just takes a little longer. I won't do that stupid paste anymore...broke a dang nail trying to get it to come out! Totally ridonkulous!
ETA: Just saw Flitastics response and I've never had that happen, but I don't use it regularly either.

For compounded products to be legal they must be made from FDA approved finished products. For example if a compounder wanted to make an apple flavored bute powder they should crush FDA approved bute tablets and add the apple flavoring. That is legal. |

US Patent # US 8,524,759 B2 is my patent and it covers all flavors of bute powder as a flavor carrier. I have said this a million times on here that 100% of all compounded bute powders it totally illegal and unethical sold by greedy vets. SUPERIORBUTE POWDER is currently off the market because there weren't enough ethical vets out there to make it go. Yes we had a very loyal bunch of vets but not enough of them. We are currently in negociations with a larger pharmaceutical company to buy us out. When SUPERIORBUTE POWDER comes back on the market, it will be even better than before.
Speaking of illegal bute powder products, the crimminal investigation of the FDA is meeting with me next week concerning illegal compounded bute powders. I am confused. If it is illegal, why are they being allowed to do it? And.. what is the difference between this situation and other Name Brand vs. Generic drugs?
In the FDA world it is called Pioneer drug. The first to get an FDA approval. When it is allowed to get Generic after patent runs out the generic has to show bio equivalent to the Pioneer. |

isn't the dosing different on IV vs orally because oral has to bypass the gut first? So are you really giving the correct dose when giving IV orally? |

SOOO what we have learned is use both hands to squeeze it out into a small dish. Then use a regular syringe, cut the end off of it to make a bigger hole and suck it up in that and it is MUCH easier to administer. OR use tablets and make your own paste.

I have cut tablets in half and melted them in water in a syringe or ground them up really fine with a pill grinder and put them in apple sauce and sucked it up in one of the really big syringes. |

Location: SoCal | When I ran my gelding years ago, he could taste and smell it then refuse to eat, so we used jello(can't recall if we actually made the jello or gave him the jello powder with it). When he caught on to that, he got maple syrup, which he still can't refuse. He's got a major sweet tooth... |
