This is spot on. To those that are not fans,The 3 granted to Tolkien are The Lord of the Rings... and the seven to Lewis are the 7 Chronicles of Narnia... Everybody here has heard of Game Of Thrones. and of course anybody that has not heard of Rowling (Potter) and Meyer (Twilight) should just move along to another thread.. Good or bad, I've read them all... This came across my Facebork page and I had to share....

I'm a big GoT fan, just read this article to add to the funny...

I'd have to say I totally agree... poor guy must be fed up.

I share the same concern.... This man is being ranked among some of the best ever.

I'll tell you a story as I heard it.... in the Early 1900s, 3 young men were going to collage in England.... all 3 wanted to be writers and formed their own exclusive club where they would meet often at a local pub and talk about their work...
Then WWI came along and they all joined up off they went.... One was killed and two came home..
I don't know the name of the young man that was killed... but the names of the other two were C.S. Lewis (Narnia) and J.R.R. Tolkien (LOTR) ...and it took a long time for them to produce what they finally did.
Martin is in his 60s... and holds the world captive to GoTs....

But on the other end of this scale is a young man named Christopher Paolini. He rushed his books and totally blew the last one... I know I will not live long enough to see his best stuff.. But it is yet to come.. Watch for it..

How, in this conversation, has Robin Hobb not been discussed? Or Diana Gabaldon, who defies all genres? How is that exactly?? These stories wind slowly through my mind, through the decades. I found them both when I was 12. They'll see me through to my last day.

I love GRRM. I'm terrified he'll die before I find out what happens to Sansa and Arya. Tolkien has a special place in my heart, my Dad read them to me at night, it was our special time together. I have the Rowling books memorized. Sad but true. I love the Twilight Series storyline but was and am appalled by her elementary writing abilities. Adore all things Hunger Games. I recently found the most fascinating storyline in a trio of books by Mark Lawrence.

But, I NEED Robin and Diana. They have seen me through a lot of shttt.

Well... just in the last few months I've heard of Hobb and The assassins series and I hear it is good...
I just looked up Gabaldon and see it is "...featuring elements of historical fiction, romance, mystery, adventure and science fiction/fantasy..." Sorry, I don't multitask that fast..

I prefer one Genres at a time...Tho I am a fan of the TV show Sleepy Hollow....(CRAP! That falls into " elements of historical fiction, romance, mystery, adventure and science fiction/fantasy"....I guess I'll have to add those to my list...) I am a history fan after all and am reading a John Jakes trilogy called The North And The South... I've been a fan of his since I read The Kent Family Chronicles back in the 70s.
SIGH!! So much to read... so little time :/
